Can219 Wrote:Well I woke up this morning to good news! Tesc sent an email approving the class and verifying that it will complete my degree. They also added it as a planned credit on my evaluation. I feel much more comfortable now. I have been working non-stop on these Tracks... I'm exhausted but so close to making it happen. I was in so low a couple days ago .. I had no idea what I was going to do. This forum was a true life saver!! I had never heard about TEEX credits before ~ Good Luck to everyone ~ Now on to burn the midnight oil reading about cybersecurity!!
Great News!!!! I knew the TEEX courses filled Business Electives but things can change behind the scenes. The problem is there is usually no formal announcement, we tend to find out about it once someone has been denied use of credit and come to the board to lodge a complaint. At this point it is best not to take anything for granted; especially given your time constraint. There was a time when a 0.32 credit deficiency would have been waived as an exception; but as your experience has proven, times are a changing.

Yes! I thought the .32 would be waved. Its really confusing what they did and that is why I was caught off guard. For the 3.00 CIS requirement they transferred in a previous class I had taken but gave me 2.68 credit. However they put "Completed" next to it.. so I thought that requirement was complete and essentially it was BUT what they did was took the .32 underage and moved it down to my Business Electives. HOWEVER... the verbage was put underneath the whole description of business Electives. So I saw just the 9 SH of requirements. The verbage looked like it was for staff. I had no idea what it meant. It was very confusing .... that's why I'm in this mess. Plus being overseas doesn't help. And of all the calls I have made to the college and planning out my credits NOT ONCE did any advisor ask me how I was filling the .32.!!! I don't like stress. I'm a preparer and organized person so this really through me for a loop. Hope this helps someone else out! Thanks again for all the support

Howdy everyone - to provide some helpful hints and clarify some of the changes to our program: Yes, we've made some changes.
We moved to a new learning management system so the classes look and feel different. Not all classes have been recertified so we are in the middle of that process.
Passing the posttest no longer means you pass the class. You do have to go through all the pages and activities in the course. FEMA really wants to know that the material was looked at.
We wanted to change the passing grade to 70% but were unaware that this change needed to go through ACE again. Another division, entirely, is in charge of that process and so we are backing things up and finding out what the best approach should be. For the present, you cumulative score on all of the modules must be 80%however, the class will be marked as completed with 70%.
You should have 5 attempts to pass the class. If you don't, please contact us. Every time our LMS system is updated, this seems to reset itself, so I definitely need to know and get it fixed.
Keep in mind that content, layout and grades are all driven by DHS/FEMA requirements so we have some restrictions on what we can do.
The registration information should have been changed. You should now have an option to choose "other" for level of government and agency type.
Keep in mind we are a state extension agency with Federal cooperative agreements and responsible for training the Police officers of the state, firefighters nationwide, as well as providing a significant amount for training and exercise planning for Emergency Operations personnel nationwide. So our forms and processes have typically been geared for that audience. We are completely revamping that registration process and the new "front page" should be available sometime next year.
Just an FYI you have 180 days from the day you enroll to complete the class. Once your enrollment expires, you need to re-enroll for the class. All new enrollments overwrite all previous enrollments for that class. We only record the highest score as your final or âofficialâ score.
We are delighted that you are finding our classes informational and that you are able to obtain college credit for them. If you have any questions or run into any problems, please contact me at:

Agreed, we just have to be smart. I have a Mac so I am bit more protected, but as we read it doesn't matter.

Is there a process you have to complete in between classes that make up a credit set? For example, if one 2 credit set is made up of 4 classes, do you have to do anything official when you pass each individual class or is that stored for you? I'd only submit to ACE once all 4 classes in that credit set are finished, correct?

When you're done with the first class, register for the next class. Even then, you should be able to access your previous classes as each subscription period is 180 days.

Thanks! It's for my 8th grader, he's almost finished with his first class!

Just curious, I see on ACE website that other TEEX courses are available for credit. Is this correct? Has anyone used them? Thanks!
