For TESU do certifications count towards credits
#1
For TESU do certifications count towards credits. We just paid for our son to take CompTia A+ (1 & 2) and the Networking certification. Do any of these count towards credits in Computer Science or Technical Studies?

Thank you

They accept these IT certs

https://www.tesu.edu/academics/cal/apr#info-technology
Quote:
  • Certified Ethical Hacker certification (issued by EC-Council)
  • Cisco
  • CompTIA
  • Linux Essentials (issued by LPI)
  • Microsoft
  • Oracle
  • PC AGE Career Institute

Unfortunately, for CompTIA they take Security+ and Network+ but not A+.

How much is STUDY to use? I thought it cost more than what you have listed. Do you have the link?

Wow paid $1000 for the A+certifications thinking they would count as credits. Thank you for your input

Ouch, my A+ exams cost under $200 total.

Your best bet for accepting certs is WGU. They'll take A+ for sure.

TESU swapped Cisco CCNA Routing/Switching for 3 credits and listed it as ITS-240.

I had emailed separately to ask to have 3 other Cisco Certs evaluated; CCDA, CCNP and CCDP, but never heard back on any of those requests.

Which school cost less and accepts more credits from outside?

TESU accepts more transfer, but WGU could be cheaper if you're able to finish in one term. WGU is self-paced and is a flat-rate of around $3500 for a 6 month term. You can complete as many courses are you are able to in that 6 months and the price doesn't change (so if you finish course, that's a pretty expensive course. But if you finish 10 courses/30crs, that's pretty cheap!). I think you have to take at least 20 crs at WGU, but don't take my word on that, i might be off by a few.

He basically has all general classes. Some computer. So, at WGU he can focus on computer classes needed for computer science? Do they have upper level too?
