FEMA & FREE College Credit courses
I have just read the majority of this thread, but I'm still uncertain of how this will affect me.

I'm not a student at any of these schools that have been referenced (FCC, TESC, or EC). I'm a student at Marshall University and I'm thinking that they may accept FEMA classes. Will FCC (if it is RA) mail a transcript to my school after I finish these classes (err.. tests)? As long as I have an official transcript with credit hours, they will more than likely accept it as "unclassified credit hours".

Next question.. is it true, or untrue... that by opening up a banking account you pay only $250 for up to XX hours?

I want to start testing away! I'm glad that I renewed my instantcert subscription!

My school starts back on monday Sad

To answer your question, you need to call your adviser at Marshall and tell him you are interested in taking some classes through FCC (not through FEMA), and ask where they fit into your degree plan. You would have to pay FCC to transcript the classes $X per credit, and ask if Marshall charges a transcription fee $Y per credit- a lot of schools do.
I think EC's policy of taking the credits once they are filtered through TESC credit bank (as opposed to directly evaluating them) is unusual. Before you go that route, ask Marshall specifically if they will take credits from a transcript of credits not earned where the transcript was generated. Something to consider, if you ever transfer somewhere else, you will be better off with a direct transcript from FCC.

Dollar for dollar, you can figure out the cost if you have a savings - but in my situation- saving time is as important. The FEMA classes are easy and quick. I did mine in one day. So, even if it costs a bit more to get everything logged, I would have paid it. (I am at TESC so didn't have to)

What about the transcripts? Does anyone know if they are official transcripts with a seal? Would it show that I was an actual registered student there, or just as a transcipt processor?

I talked to my advisor today, he said everything sounds good if it meets these guidelines! I'm so excited!

Once you elect to have FCC (an RA school) transcript your credit they will send your "official" transcript to whatever school you choose. Good Luck!

This is one case where resurrecting an old thread is productive.

I had seen mention of the "FEMA Credits" in posts like "This is the best thing to happen since FEMA credits!", but had dismissed them as something that probably had stopped working since everyone was talking about them in the past tense. I guess the old saying about assumptions still holds true. hilarious

I've got a huge gaping hole in my applied professional block, so this might just be the ticket. Much thanks for putting this at the top of the forum pile again, and as a newbie I'd recommend it be stickied for other newcomers. It's just too beneficial not to use!

I've been looking around, but it seems they've moved the application. I can't find anything about it on their site, searching manually and with the search tool. The few links that are included in this and other threads for the pdf file no longer seem to work. I'm going to call TESC on Monday if I can't find it before then.

Step 1: Call or e-mail your advisor and get the approval of FEMA credits.
Step 1: Request transcript from FEMA .
FEMA will send you a sealed transcript for your college.
Step 2: With FEMA transcript on hand, download a "Nondegree Services
Application" from TESC website or call 888-442-8372.
Step 3: Fill application and note where you want the credits to go,
enclose transcript and full payment ($480).
Keep copies for your records.
Step 4: TESC takes about a month to review and transcribe your FEMA
credits, in my case 14 out of 17 courses were given credit, IS-242
was counted as a credit for the Humanities requirement all the others
went to fulfill Applied Professional requirements. They did not give
credit for IS 00005A, IS00362 and IS00700, this breaks down to
34.28 per credit. TESC will send the credits to your college or you

I hope this helps, ask if you have any questions.
