I noticed most of the FEMA courses online say "10 hours" for completion time. I am thinking five hours is more accurate. What has everyone's experience been?
Also I was wondering would the general ed. CLEP and DSSTs in my signature below be enough to satisfy the Frederick Community College AAS in Emergency Management general ed. requirements? I can't seem to find an answer to that on their website. What I'm thinking is: the FEMA courses satisfy the FCC residency requirement, my military credits take care of electives, and my testing takes care of general ed. I might as well grab myself the AAS:EM!

Expected completion times don't really mean anything in my book, it depends mostly on how fast you read, how serious you are about retaining the information, etc. Honestly after taking several the completion time goes way way down, at least it did for me.
You better call FCC, you may be onto something! You have a lot of credit racked up. Let us know! I'm very curious actually.

I checked out the courses today. Are the final exams timed? I emailed TESC last night to email me a list of what's approved so I can attack one of these classes hopefully this week. It's free, sounds intriguing what's the catch?

If you go to TESC (which you do if I recall?), no catch, the exams are not timed, open book, I do not think TESC will charge you anything either.

I agree with you Rickyjo. I took mostly all the femas I could and it took me like 6 months because I hated every minute of it. I just did not care to read the material. Finally i did it because I wanted the credits.
So yes, it depends on the individual and how much effort is placed.

Thanks for the info. If each class can be done in about 5 hours and each class is generally 1 credit it seems feasible that I can obtain 6 credits in a week? It sounds easier and faster than ALEKS courses, correct? And how fast is the turnaround for transcripts, pretty quick? BTW yes I'm going to TESC but I'm taking 2 upper level classes at AMU because they have 8 week terms which is probably confusing you.

Turn around for the transcripts is very quick, and free! I'd say a week, maybe slightly more.
As for taking the classes, you can do it in a week, maybe two, but if you are motivated I'd say one.

I'll check with FCC and let you know what they say. One week to knock out 24 courses? That's not bad at all!

No no no, not 24 courses, six! Maybe! It will take months to do all the courses available for credit. Sorry I was responding to the prior post asking if one can earn six credits in a week. Yes if you are motivated, six, not 24. Sorry for being unclear.

A week for six? So four weeks for all 24 courses. It would still be awsome to finish my AAS in Electronics then turn around a month later and get an AAS in Emergency Management. I should do it just to make people say WTF?
I am taking my College Mathematics CLEP in the morning, studying some IC cards now. Wish me luck!
