Hi Matchmaker,

If you want to save money AND get out of school fast without having to pay that pesky annual enrollment fee, test out like MAD on the tests listed in Sanantone's map NOW while you are stuck waiting. You won't be paying the enrollment fee more than you need to that way. It's past the time to get into January classes anyway, so if you really buckle down and test like nuts before the next TESC course registration period you'll have a good idea about testing out and if it will work for you, you'll save more money taking DSST's and CLEP's and you'll save money if you wait till you have most of your testing out classes done before you start the clock on your annual enrollment. I am a nursing major, so the rules are a little different, so if I am wrong anyone, please chime in. What I am trying to tell matchmaker is that the annual fee is the killer and if you plan well you can keep your schooling to about a year and avoid the nasty fee. I LOVE TESC, but I feel it's the one fee that is it's drawback. With a little planning, I think some of the fees can be avoided.

Sound like you found your fit and major, but I just wanted to show you the fees and timetables so you have an idea while we are in the typically calm month of January.

On a personal note, I lost my contract job last January, the boss kept me as long as she could, but that meant me being in the same boat you are in now. I was wanting to get my degree/courses done, and missing the January registration deadline. So I found this website and came up with a plan thanks to cooperalex and someone who's finished a higher level degree as well and left our little family (I am happy for them)...and they gave me the same advice which was use this time to talk to an advisor and make sure your CLEPs/DSST's will count toward your degree and then start passing those tests. It was great advice. I also went to a TESC Open House. I am going to their next one this month as well with questions for the advisors. I found them very very helpful. Now just 10 months later I am only 2 classes from getting my BSN!

You can get your degree too It's totally do-able.

Thanks so much for all your responses. I have decided to go for a social science degree from TESC. The annual tuition is really high, so I'm going to research how this testing works to see if I can take all the tests prior to enrollment. Thanks again...this forum is great!
