I understand your goal here was to get the cheapest degree possible but I just wanted to point out that many of the listed Uexcel exams can be replaced with Straighterline courses. Just pointing this out for any newbies that come along. If you use the discount code and complete all necessary courses in one month it would probably be even cheaper/faster then having to deal with pearson.

I forgot to put the disclaimer in this thread that the degree can be made cheaper if you can complete several Straighterline courses in one month. It can also be made cheaper if you can earn 12 credits on the language CLEPs. There are just too many variables to assume that most people can complete several Straighterline courses in one month.

I, personally, have been avoiding Straighterline courses like the plague. I have issues with inattention and procrastination, so whenever I can avoid having to complete several assignments, I do.

Sanantone-
Thank you for laying this information out. I'm actually considering swinging through TESC and grabbing a quick BSBA to get an understanding of the financial side of things that a lot of the managerial positions are asking for (as well as the piece of paper that 'shows' that I know the stuff). Yes, I'd considered just going for an MBA, but I'm not leaving my Doctoral program to do that, or attempting to do it concurrently. Besides, when it comes down to it, the prerequisite courses I'd need to get into the MBA programs I looked at basically are what I'd need to complete for the BSBA Tongue.

Question though: Has anyone ever gotten TESC to waive the English II requirement? I took the Uexcel (way back when) for the three credits in English because that's all I needed for my degree at EC. I've also got a M.Ed. and am working on a doctoral degree. Would I be stuck with having to take another English course/test? :p I do have 1 credit Writing in the Major class from the requirements for my Psych major, but obviously that still leaves me 2 credits short if they accepted that.

Thanks

English requirements are pretty inflexible at most colleges. I think TESC would only be flexible with a quarter hour course that leaves you 0.33 credits short of 3 credits. But, it depends on what types of courses you took at the graduate level. TESC gave me credit for Statistics I and Statistics II for two graduate courses I took (Statistics in CJ and Linear Regression).

Cool, thanks for the response on that. It looks like I'd have to take English Comp II as a TECEP to get toward the total 8 I'd need for the Per Credit Tuition Plan anyway. I'm actually running out of places to use TECEPs for that purpose. Bleh.

Concerning the College Algebra/Quant Analysis, I've got Trig done through ALEKs, which according to your chart in the Wiki, counts as PreCalc. Since PreCalc is considered a higher level course, would they accept it in place of College Algebra, or should I just hit ALEKS up for the quick credit?

And I tellya, the whole Personal and Social Responsibility section is playing havoc with trying to figure out if I have it covered or not. I won't be able to apply for another two weeks so I guess I'll have my answer sometime in November as far as what I've got there. It should be interesting to see what they evaluate my Master's credits as; I know I've got one Ethics class in there that would fit (in Hey! Personal and Social Responsibility!) but I have no clue what they'd do with the other 9 courses. Tongue

I would think so, but their evaluation system is having problems. You might have to ask them to put pre-cal in the slot. They fulfilled my statistics requirement with the Statistics II equivalent even though I had Stats I.

Do you happen to know if any of the test-out communications courses *do not* overlap? I'm thinking (and yes, I'm going on a tangent from the topic of a TESC BSBA in General Management) that the BSBA in Human Resource Management might tie in better to my current program and still has the financial/accounting stuff covered. The reason I ask, is because Managerial Communications is in Section I. A. as well as being in the electives section under Section II. B ii Electives (being considered as Organizational Communication OR Managerial Communications). Especially since the Electives portion is fairly limited concerning areas to test out.

I actually have courses that would fit in the HRM electives, but they're part of my Doctoral program, and I don't want there being any impact as far as using those credits towards another degree until I'm finished with the program. They get pretty sticky as far as doing that with my school, and I'm not going to jeopardize the forward motion of my program.

Sorry for all the questions, but my interaction with TESC is quite limited. If you ever have questions about EC though, I might be able to answer them. ROFL.

Thanks
