Hey ya'll. I was wondering if anyone knows of a decently-priced EHS/OHS-type masters, online....possibly that accepts some transfer credits? Preferably RA. Self-paced preferably. CSU fit that, but they aren't RA. I see lots of "emergency management" type degrees that are aaaaalmost what I want, but not quite. I am interested in moving into a EHS position at my company at the end of the year, and would like to possibly be enrolled in another program by then. I have a shot already, but would l like to boost my chances however I can (going to do a quick OSHA 30 just because in the meantime). Considered certificates (don't know that I want to put in the time for a degree at the bachelors level, anyways...saving that for a 2nd degree from TESU in History possibly). If I get the position, an ASP and later CSP will be my educational goals after that. I plan to get the MSI training cert before the end of the year, also, as part of the job will be training.
Thanks!

Seriously considering Columbia Southern University. I know they are NA....but it seems that specific school is well-respected in the EHS world. The president of the BCSP board and other BCSP folks are employed there...lots of big names in safety. I am just hesitant because of the NA accreditation. After speaking with their CS, it sounds like a program I would be able to do.
It's too bad Waldorf doesn't have it, there would be no question....but all they have is Emergency Management/Org Leadership.

Doubt you would find self-paced, so a Masters is likely to take a while

I've spent lots of time looking for Public Health Masters and Certificates, and would have probably noticed EHS/OHS. It's usually not a separate degree but part of an MPH degree, and most MPH are 18 months minimum. Some are less, but to me they were all expensive or required too much in-person. However you are probably willing to spend more time and money than I am for this.
I would suggest this for you:
http://catalog.uwf.edu/graduate/publiche...healthtext or
http://catalog.uwf.edu/graduate/publiche...healthtext or both! They might be pretty quick! They have a full MPH but it's probably 2 years. It has an internship.

Thanks for the info bud! I have noticed some MPH in EHS, in my searches, also.

Coursera has announced 2 MPH degrees, Imperal College London and University of Michigan. Neither start until 2019. To get an MPH that is CEPH accredited is going to take time. CEPH won’t approve any fast/easy programs. Depending on your intended career, the CEPH accreditation may not be necessary, but you should be prepared to explain why you selected a non-accredited program with something more than “it was quick and cheap”

I'm not concerned with CEPH....if the degree is either ABET or on the list of GSP schools from BCSP, that is all that will matter in the industry. The public health side was brought up only because some PH degrees have a concentration in EHS. But I'm looking for an EHS/OHS degree.
Thank you for the information, though.

Thanks. Some of them look great....if I had an extra 30k I wanted to spend. I know NA is a nono....but that 10k CSU masters might be worth pursuing.

Yeah about price tags. Oh, didn't realize they were that cheap. Now I have to research more about CSU too. Mostly about the speed.
Found it. They say you can complete a course in 4 weeks if you want to! Terms start every month too.
Also in your case if you can get a scholarship for working in certain public service, etc... that would be so cheap. Or the 10% employer discounts.

If you do the "life paced" or something like that, you can do 4 to 10 weeks, self paced (online discussions replaced with a journal entry deal). Or 8 week terms with weekly online discussions. 900 a course.
Beat me to it :-)
