I'm heading for my bachelors in accounting and I'm in my junior year, but I have a few questions...
First, I need to take the Clep English Composition test (with essay) again. I've taken it twice now and flunked it both times, just by a couple points. So, how can I best prepare for it? I'd really hate to flunk again!
Second, for my accounting degree I have to have managerial accounting. Clep discontinued that course, so now I'll have to get it else where. Would straighterline's work? If so, how hard is SL? Like, could I complete it within a months time?
Third, would SL's business communications work in place of TESC's managerial communications?
TIA

Have no idea on this one. I took my english courses at B&M. SL also offers english comp courses.

SL Accounting II transcribes as ACC102 and meets the requirement for TESCs Prin of Managerial Accounting. The level of difficulty depends on the individual. Some have knocked it out in a few days, others it took longer. If you are an accounting major you would more than likely knock it out within one week. FYI the new SL ACC150 managerial accounting transcribes as UL ACC303 at TESC. Just in case you need more UL credit. Penn Foster also has plenty of UL accounting courses ($285 incl textbook and shipping) that can be done quickly.

Yes, and it transcribes as COM300.

Check out the specific feedback area. English Comp. has now been replaced by College Composition. The new test has two essays rather than one. Its passable, but make sure to practice writing and completing essays within the allotted time frame for each essay.
SL Accounting II could be a completed in a week or two if you spend a lot time on it. Some people have been able to finish the courses within a week, but I think that's pushing it. It just takes time to read the text and online material that they give you. Also, you may want to check out SL's new Managerial Accounting course. Make sure you check with TESC first! I don't know what the difference is between Accounting II and the Managerial Accounting courses, but TESC applied Accounting II as my Managerial Accounting credit. BTW The online crosswords, flash cards, etc. stuff at SL are a complete wast of time. When you're doing the course, go ahead and check it out, but you'll probably agree that it's worthless.

Do you think it'd be easier to do SL's English instead?

Okay, that's helpful to know. Thanks.

Type in "straighterline promo code" in google and you can get a code to get your first class for free and just pay the $99 a month saving you $39... I just used it a few days ago when I signed up for SL ACC II. There's another for $15 dollars off, I know you can't use both if only taking 1 class, but maybe if you register for 2 you can.

If you do SL accounting, DO buy the book. You don't have to have the current edition; I bought an older version on eBay for just a few dollars and it worked fine. I can't speak for the English SL class, but for their courses that I've taken, many test answers come straight out of the book. Lol.. I know that wasn't what you asked, but I wanted to mention it just in case!

Oh yea and order the book before you pay for the class... then start the class when it gets there. They say on there that SL has ebooks of everything but apparently not... I had to do what burbuja said and order and old one off ebay for 8 dollars and have it rushed. I want to finish it in under a month so I can save $99, but it's hard being active duty, taking a college class, doing SL, and like 5 CLEPs a month :o
