English BA from TESC--help!

Not at all!

af2012 Wrote:most of the courses from Western Washington University give 4 to 5 credits for the course. Would I get all 4 or 5 credits when they transfer to TESC or would TESC only take 3 of them? Just curious...
Ah, here's something important: Western Washington University awards credits in quarter hours, not semester hours. Each quarter hour is converted to about 0.66 semester hours at TESC. There's a full chart in Appendix II to the TESC Degree Planning Handbook [pdf] (search for "credit conversion table".)

5 quarter hours becomes 3.33 semester hours at TESC; 4 quarter hours becomes 2.66 semester hours at TESC.

In other threads, TESC students report instances of TESC advisors accepting 2.66 semester hour courses from a quarter-hour-granting source to meet specific requirements within a degree plan that are otherwise 3 semester hours. I expect you would still need an absolute hard total of 120 semester hours for a bachelor's degree, etc.

Ok cool. Thanks for clearing that up. Then I will just go for any class that gives 5 quarter hours so they should translate into over the 3 credits for each upper level class I will need at TESC. No sense in taking anything less & then be short by a 1/4 of a point. Smile

Ok another dumb question about DSST Technical Writing.

In my academic evaluation, there are two sections to the English Major which I think this might fit into. What do you think? Would it go under English Electives Group 1 - this is where I'm seeing one of the higher level courses (J. Austen: One Writer's Vision) that I've already taken, or would it go under Group 2 - this is where I'm seeing a lvl 200 class which I just took (Intro. Children's Lit).

I've taken that exam and when I tell the system to run an eval on BA in English with my credits it puts it into group 2 of the electives (group one is your 15 UL credits which it mentions are required in the elective section).

Here you go, I'm a Communication major so I'm missing most of those credits!

Thanks so much for checking that for me. :-) I kinda figured they wouldn't make it that easy to get those upper level credits. I still had hope that it would go into Group 1. Oh well, back to the drawing board *lol*
