TESU BA in English and History
#1
Question
I'm seriously considering a dual English/History degree since it looks like I can do both at the same time for not much more money. I'm assuming that I get the Study.com scholarship and that I can at least get enough of this done before June that I can at least take advantage of the lower cost for the capstone and not having to pay for the cornerstone.

In addition to the attached sheet, I'd:

ModernStates to CLEP English or American Literature (haven't decided yet) and A&I literature for free.

Shmoop:
  • Holocaust Literature
  • Literature in the Media
  • Modernist Literature
  • Shakespeare's Plays
  • Women's Literature
  • Intro to Poetry
BYU: Chinese Lit. in Translation

This would mean an additional $600 or so to add English to a history degree.

Does all of this look about right? Am I missing anything?

I'm currently doing a double History/English at TESU. I hope to be finished at the end of this term

basically your 2 biggest problems are going to be Historical Methods on the history side, which you will almost certainly have to take either at COSC or TESU (i took it at TESU) and the non-western Lit course, which you can take a BYU like you have there, or you could take something more interesting than "chinese poetry" at TESU or where ever.

also, unless you CLEP it, you will have to take American Lit 2 at Coopersmith, because you can't find it anywhere like Study.com for some reason. everything else you can find at either Shmoop or Study.com

I read a forum post that said that AMU and FHSU have Historical Methods courses that can be taken for about $800. I suppose $1098 isn't that much more, but that's annoying. Does the Historical Methods class at TESU start monthly like the capstone or is it only available periodically like at COSC?

I agree with jsh1138 that you should CLEP the AM Lit or Eng Lit so that you get the full 6cr for it and get the requirements met.

I thought the CLEP was only worth 3 now, not 6. Either way both Am Lit 1 and 2 are required so you have to get it one way or the other, regardless of the number of credits it is

And you can get the lower residency waiver cost if you're certain you'll graduate within the year.

Looks good. Yeah, it's not very expensive to add English.

Be prepared for all but 1 UL Shmoop Lit to be frustrating.

According to TESU it's 6cr through 2022.. https://www.tesu.edu/academics/catalog/c...rogram.cfm
