hello,
i was wondering if anyone has taken the eng comp w/ essay clep. I was wondering how they grade the essay and is it any old topic?? does it need to be lengthy? How soon will i know when i passed?? thank you in advance for your help.

It is not called English composition. It is called College Composition and also College Composition Modular. They are two different tests. You need to determine which exam the school granting credit requires you to take.
It takes a few weeks to get your score back.

It can take a few weeks to get your score back if you indeed are taking the College Composition exam (not Modular). Check out the CLEP website to get most of your questions answered.

On the College Composition CLEP, the essay is graded by CLEP staff. On the College Composition Modular, the essay is optional (optional for the institution, not the testee) and graded by your institution. The topic for College Composition is selected at random by CLEP. The topic for College Composition Modular can be selected by either CLEP or the institution. You need to find out which version the institution you wish to transfer the credit to uses.

Practice writing as many 5-paragraph essays as you can and know how to cite properly.
The Peterson's practice tests were excellent preparation for the College Composition test.
