I used these 2 books for "The Modern Middle East" test
The Middle East for Dummies: Jr. Davis Craig: 9780764554834: Amazon.com: Books
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Middle East Conflict, 4th Edition: Mitchell G. Bard: 9781592577910: Amazon.com: Books
I think they're really all you need (and a good attitude for learning, which I did not have -- "hey, I watch the news and read the paper, I know all about the middle east" -- BIG mistake)
so yes, I did pass, but just barely
but then, I just barely skimmed through the books
I think if I had really taken the time to really read those 2 books I would have passed by a much bigger margin
I also have this book that I'm currently reading and using for the "Europe since 1945" exam and the CLEP History 1 & 2 exam
Let's Review Global History and Geography: Mark Willner: 9780764133640: Amazon.com: Books
great little book

In my opinion
Civil War easiest- Some of the questions came word for word out of the Idiot's Guide.
Vietnam- easier than I expected. I used spark notes.
Soviet Union- also didn't seem terribly hard, but I did get a low score, so I guess I know a lot less than I think I do
Middle East- I haven't yet taken. Trouble keeping unfamiliar words/names/spellings straight in my head.
Haven't taken World Conflicts, but I assume it will be on the easy side because of all the overlap with previous History tests

Rhashad Wrote:I can add this, Vietnam and Civil war and totally be done with IC, the others need multiple resources, especially modern middle east. Overall Civil war is probably "easiest," followed by Vietnam. But as others have already said, its completely subjective.
After having taken all those history tests I was asking about earlier, I will say that this advice ^ is spot-on. Easiest to hardest, my ranking would be:
Civil War DSST
Vietnam War DSST
Soviet Union DSST
Modern Middle East DSST
World Conflicts ECE/Uexcel
