If I were your mentor, I would have advised you to NOT yet enroll, because it's my opinion that doing so before understanding what a credit is will cost you both time and money....but since you have enrolled, you can move on from here. But, you need a plan. Lots of us here can help you with that. Welcome to the board![/QUOTE]

I am more or less in the same boat. I am new to this distance learning and trying to figure out my path. Hoping for AAS/RN from Excelsior and then maybe a further degree in Liberal Studies. As it is now, I am starting from scratch as I only have a few 17 year old college credits in Paramedic Theory.
From what I have read there are a lot of options for my gen ed stuff(CLEP-FEMA-ALEK-Straighline) versus using solely the EC exams. Any information/hints/etc will be well recieved and greatly appreciated.
This is a great site, amazing wealth of information with very friendly/open folks.

toddsbiyj- Welcome to the board! It might be helpful if you start a separate thread and put in the title "Trying to complete AAS/RN at Excelsior" or something similar. This way people that attend EC and/or are pursuing the same degree might have helpful information for you. ( I am sure other forum members from TESC or Charter Oak will jump in as well.) It also might be helpful in the thread to give more information as to what credits you actually have etc, your background etc. The more information we have to go on-- the better
This is a really great board with lots of really helpful people. I am sure we can give you plenty of info to help you get started on your path

But, if I am one college, can you take course at another and how would it benefit me. Thanks for the information will look at them both.
You have to do your research. As a general principle, you can take a course at one college or university and have the credit transfer to another. But there are always limitations to exactly what and how much can transfer. You should never assume that a particular course will transfer to another. You get everything confirmed before spending the money enrolling in a course.
