NERVOUS... Preparing for "Ethics in America" (Dantes)
#1
Feeling a bit nervous... I've challenged three CLEP exams and now on the DSST test. This is the final one. I was accepted into a BA program and this "Ethics in America" exam is my last step. If all goes well this Saturday, I start school on September 6th.

Who has taken the "Ethics in America" exam? How did it go? Was the flashcards enough? Did you feel prepared? Any advice?

I used the InstantCert flashcards for the "Principles of Management" exam and passed. For the other two CLEP exams, I just studied out of a book and watched videos on YouTube.

Ethics in America DSST Study Guide - Free-Clep-Prep.com is an excellent resource that I used for this, along with the flashcards and a book from my base library called "Ethics in America" that wasn't a study prep for this exam, oddly enough. For the concepts he listed on the exam, google helps well. I approached it by focusing on ideas/concepts that kept popping up multiple times in different study guides.

Heads up that there's an essay available for this exam; check if it's still possible that your school doesn't need it.

My only other tip is that you really have to understand the material, up to and including being able to distinguish between different sets of ethics. The type of question I saw frequently was "Blah blah blah this. This describes..."

or occasionally (especially for Kantian ethics):

"Given this situation, what would you, who believed in this or that ethical system, do?"

I enjoyed this exam as it made me think, and it's my highest-scoring DSST exam to date. It's also the most focused I've ever studied for though, dedicating a good chunk of a week studying for it.

Good luck!

I haven't taken it, but an enlisted guy I work with just took it last month and all of his study was from the "Official Guide to Mastering DSST Exams" that can be found free at the following site.
