Just to add to this. I talked at length with a few people at UMPI(all were very helpful) about this and we came to the conclusion that active duty or reservist on active duty orders that could be deploying, it wouldn't be feasible (I'm navy) since there's a high possibility of low to zero internet connection and that they don't do a type of correspondencish type thing that some schools do. I would recommend TESU because of what @bjcheung77 stated above and because while on deployment if you're doing TECEPs you can use a military proctor and they are covered by military TA. Excelsior does the same except Uexcels are going away.

For those, you're going to get all/most of your credits using alt-credit like study.com, Sophia, Coopersmith, CLEP, and then finish up your degree in 1-2 terms at the school.
A competency-based degree is not a great option for someone who may have to leave in the middle of the term.
Ok thank you so much! Will look into them
