Well, I returned to this forum to help my fiancé plan his Bachelors degree, but after reading all these posts I'm starting to feel tempted to go back to school myself.... You guys are the worst
Any suggestions for a cheap(ish) online Doctorate or PhD in Software Development/Software Engineering/Computer Science or related field? I'm a US resident (Texas) and would prefer a regionally-accredited US college. However, I actually have dual citizenship (US and Austria) so I'm wondering if there might be some cheap distance learning options within the EU for me, as long as the degree would still be recognized here in the US. I also currently work as a Software Engineer, and I'm not looking to quit my job to go back to school (I wish...).
I appreciate any ideas and insights!
Thank you for everything you do.

Any suggestions for an affordable online Doctorate or PhD in Software Development/Software Engineering/Computer Science or related field? Since I currently work as a Software Engineer it would have to be a part-time program. I am interested in potentially teaching Software Engineering or Computer Science at an online college in the future. A PhD would certainly come in handy there.
I did search the forum and so far the most promising option seems to be Mississippi State

Thank you guys.

On top of what you found it looks like there's also:
North Dakota -
https://und.edu/programs/computer-scienc...nline.html
University of Arkansas - Little Rock -
https://ualr.edu/news/2022/11/03/online-...doctorate/
Dakota State has PhD - Information Systems -

Clarkson -

Florida Atlantic University -

Outside of the US there are quite a few in the UK. These are all public research universities, roughly in the order
University of York -

Swansea University -
https://www.swansea.ac.uk/postgraduate/r...-learning/
University of Portsmouth -

Manchester Metropolitan University -

University of Bradford -

London South Bank -

University of Wolverhampton -

Birmingham City University -

Unless it's due to a funding issue the UK Based schools are essentially all ranked better than the US-based programs which is a consideration with PhD programs. Clarkson and UND rank around where Wolverhampton and Birmingham City do. The other upside of UK based PhD programs is they are mostly research only Phds so no further coursework to complete.

If systems and engineering management, with two summer residencies each with two weeks on campus in Lubbock would work, that opens up

@jdcowe, Wow, that's a great starting list for both UK/US institutions...
Making me feel like taking some time to skim through these for interest purposes...

That's a great list @jdcowe
This is quite specific PhD in Software/Computer* and online gonna be hard. But this article makes a list, someone on the sub might have more understanding and provide insight on the quality from this link:
