She's going to do both the AA and BS since her older siblings are getting theirs in the Spring she likes that it's easier to get internships while still working on your degree when you have an AA degree (at least that's what her brother told her after speaking to the Career Counseler at his Community College). It will be a year between the AA and BS if she passes all her planned test and classes on time.
The extra cost will come from the capstone and graduation fee. If you are not a New Jersey resident, then the capstone will cost $687. The graduation fee is $290. This will cost you almost an extra $1,000.

If she can wait it out, both degrees can be conferred at the same time saving the extra grad fee.

Just to get a definitive answer ---
1) If you do the courses for an AA including the Capstone, do you need to do a second Capstone for the BA?
2) If you do all the courses for a BA with just one Capstone can you get an AA conferred at the same time as the BA?

Then there would be no point in getting the AAS. My understanding is that the OP's daughter wanted to complete something soon. There is no use for an AAS in Computer Studies once one has a BSAST in Information Technology.

The AAS and ASAST require APS-295 while the BA programs require the liberal arts capstone (UL course). The BSAST requires Current Trends and Applications (also UL). The ASBA, ASNSM, and AA in general studies programs don't have capstones. You can get an associates conferred at the same time as a bachelors, but the capstones don't overlap.

Is that new? There used to be a 1 quarter waiting period, has that changed?

I graduated with my AAS and BA at the same time in 2011. I only paid one graduation fee.

She wants the AAS first so that she can do some internships (Summer/Fall Semester). Then it will take her a year to finish up the BSAST.

My advisor actually suggested this to me, but at the time I was so happy about getting my AS, I went ahead and just got them separately. In hindsight I probably could have waited since I got my BS the following grad date.

Hey There, just FYI, I'm getting my AA with an emphasis in Music (no Capstone required) at the same time as my BA in Humanities. I would have liked to have gotten the AA sooner, but I'm guessing that would require a separate graduation fee, so I will have to wait for both (even though I had all the required credits for the AA before I even started the Capstone). Oh well, if nothing else it's a two for one deal. I tell everyone here they're having a fire sale on degrees! It will be nice to get them both when I do.

Does this still apply now- that one can graduate with an AA and BSBA same time AND pay only one graduation fee?
