Hello, fellow conspirators
Location London UK
Age 22
Ideally I would like a BA in mathematics from TESU and i need help planning this to get it as soon and as cheap as possible.
at the moment I have 0 credits ( I did about 2 years of an Eng degree here in London but dropped out and it seems like a hassle transferring the credits and most them won't be accepted so I would like to start fresh)
if any1 would please like to help me also I know very little about the US college system
I know I need 120 credits in order to graduate
ideally i would like t do 90 or them using clep or sophia.org as these seem the most affordable to me (let me know if I'm wrong)
from reading the TESU website i need 16 credits in order to waiver the residency fee and 18 upper level credits and 30 RA credits so I'm thinking I can do 12 upper level credit worth of classes at TESU do as not to pay the waiver fee 6 credits as corner and capstone (so that 18 credits of 300 & 400 and i am eligible for the flat rate tuition fee ) and 12 credits as TECEP so 30 total RA.
I need all the help I can get with what modules to take for ease and quickness and whatever advise any1 can offer to assit me in getting this degree in maximum of 2 years.
Thank you very much

This is not a degree that can be done easily via alt-credit: there's just no truly inexpensive way to get those UL math credits you need (15cr worth of UL math electives). Even if you took 3 math courses in your final term at TESU, along with the cornerstone and capstone and a 1cr course, that would be a TON of work and I'm not sure that's a good idea to try to take that on.
Have you taken Calc I, II, III, Linear Algebra (with Calc as a pre-req), and Statistics already? Do you think you're up to those now, and see how that progresses before you make any decisions?
Also, I would think that transferring your foreign credits would not be a hassle at all. It's certainly worth the $200-$300 for a WES eval to see how your credits come in before spending more money on RA credits here. If you have foreign credits, it actually reduces the number of RA credits you need to bring in. I would spend the money to do this before anything else. I think it will pay off.
Once you do that, post it here so we can see what you're bringing in. Then we can tell you if it's worth trying to get the Math degree at TESU. Or if another school may be a better option.
I wouldn't do any ACE credit until you know more info.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
A better option might be SNHU. They have a BA in Math, and will take 90cr of transfer, including ACE from Sophia, Study.com, and SL; you could take your final 30cr of math there for $320/cr, meaning about $9600 for your final 30cr.
I would probably do this:
1) apply and send your credits - you'll probably have a lot of stuff you already need for the GE, math and/or science, and free electives worst case
2) do any GE with Sophia first since they have a partnership that you can figure out what will work
3) do Calc I & II via SL
4) do any remaining courses with Study.com if need be
Then do the rest at SNHU.
Depending on what you have already taken, you could be halfway done with the degree at this point.

It's certainly up to you if you don't want to transfer your prior credits, however an evaluation would only cost about $200. Since you will need 30 RA credits and most RA courses cost at least $200 each, it makes sense (IMO) to at least see what TESU will take. Once evaluated, the credits will count as "RA" for TESU's purposes.
Due to the way TESU works, it's usually not a good idea to do most of your ULs with them. You cannot take the capstone until you have at least 100 credits AND most of your UL credits done. You also cannot take more than 16 credits in a single term unless you have previously taken courses at TESU and done well; then you may get permission. That means you'd need at least 2 flat-rate terms. Check out https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sa...egree_Plan to see what courses are required and some possible sources.
For gen ed requirements, check out: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sa...ts_Roadmap
For a 16-credit-term, I would probably suggest:
Capstone
Cornerstone
History of Math or some other UL math course
ART-100 - If you take Art History I & II at Sophia, this should be an easy course to balance out the difficult UL courses
Easy ePack ( https://www2.tesu.edu/listallc.php?type=EP ) of your choice; CIS-107 is recommended due to little/no study being needed.
PLA-100 - 1-credit course with the sole purpose of bringing your credits up to 16 taken at TESU.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA
Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

I wouldn't do any ACE credit until you know more info. so my foreign credits would be considered RA credits I was not aware of that. the reason i picked the BA mathematics is because I am really good at maths and would have no problem with the content
would you recommend CS BA instead? im happy to do either i just picked BA maths because i thought it might be easier knowledge wise

Yes I did look at snhu but I switched to tesu after I saw the flat rate tution but now that I know I can't take more than 16 credits if its my forst time it will end up being twice as much as I was expecting to pay. Thanks I'll look into snhu. I really love the wgu model but unfortunately I phoned them and they said you have to live in the US. I will consider evaluating and transferring my foreign credits but I'm worried that they won't be compatible with the modules required by wither tesu or snhu so they won't accept them and I'm out 200$. Thank you very much
Wait let me know of I'm wrong but can't I do the 15 + 1 classes as mentioned by rachel83az and do the other 14 credits as tecep therefore I only pay 1 flat rate tution fee and from what I read tecep is considered as RA

You don't have to take 30 credits at TESU. Your options for RA (or RA equivalent credits) can consist of any combination of the following:
TESU classes
TECEPs
Properly evaluated foreign credits
TEL Learning
ONU
ASU
Any other school of your choice
For instance, let's say you did the 16 credit term at TESU. That leaves you with 15 RA credits to bring in (3-credit classes are way easier to find than 1 and 2 credit classes). These may already be covered by your foreign credits, even if only as electives. Also, you're probably going to want either TECEPs or ONU for English Comp. So that's another 6 credits of RA right there. If you take UL math from UMass Global (Westcott), APUS, or West Texas A&M, those would also be RA credits. With a math degree, it's almost impossible NOT to hit 30 RA credits!

The foreign eval as your first step is really key here. It may have math courses on it, it may have GE requirements met, or it may just have your RA requirement done - either way, it's important to see what's on there. It may cut WAY back on the time/money/effort it will take you to complete the degree.
Honestly, for $200, it's crazy NOT to do this. You're talking about spending close to $10k for a degree but balk at spending $200 to see how many of your credits will count towards the degree? That's silly. Think of that $200 as an investment.

There are so many options for you, and since you're already in the UK, I'm curious, have you looked at "top up" programs from the UK?

All the top up degrees o could find in the UK are for general or mechanical engineering and I was studying Biomedical engineering. Also I completed about 1.75 not full 2 years worth of credits, which is what you need for any top up program and the system here doesn't allow transfers mid year I would have to end up repeating the second year costing more time and Money. I'm going to have my foreign credots evaluated. Using some equivalencies I found online I have about 75-78 credits, even of only half of them successfully transfer to tesu I would still be saving time and money
