Hello everyone,
I have been looking around here for a while and am planning on attending UMPI's BLS - Project Management Minor program next year.
My current employer will reimburse educational expenses up to $5250 per year. Anything over that I will pay for (if needed)
I currently work as a clinical research coordinator in an oncology department and have been doing this for six years. Prior to that I lived in Wisconsin and worked in the Health Information Dept of a long-term care, psychiatric facility. I did coding and transcription before that for many years working from home while my kids were little.
I have about 3-5 hours per night to spend on school and about 15-20 on the weekend.
I was originally planning on going to WGU's BS Healthcare Administration program, but then found the UMPI BLS-Project Management which is a better fit for what I currently do and enjoy. I also plan on getting my Master's degree from UMPI.
When I received my credit eval from WGU, they accepted the medical typing classes for the English Comp I & II. I do not mind public speaking and writing is a strength of mine. I would prefer writing over proctored exams, and for this reason I think UMPI is a better fit. I do realize most of the classes from my AAS will not transfer, but wanted to include them just in case.
I did look at the transfers accepted from MATC on the UMPI website.
I plan on taking more Sophia classes and will also switch to Study.com if needed. I started Sophia in July and then scratched my cornea so had to wait until that healed before starting back up. Yes, it was as horrific as it sounds!
I do work full time plus, about 50 hours a week. I have a lot of energy and enjoy school. I would be interested to know what classes I could include in Sophia or Study.com yet. Yes, I understand this can change at any moment and UMPI is the final authority.
I took chemistry, biology (dissected fetal pigs, a cat, frogs, worms) and biology 2 where we injected the chickens with hormones in high school in addition to AP English Lit and four years of French.
Thank you for any input, I appreciate it!
