HI, Just looking for feedback. I'm enrolled for two possible degrees. Bachelors in English Professional Communication/Journalism or also looking at BLS Educaiton studies. I am starting with my general ed credits through Sophia or Straighline or Study.com. I've already reached out to Jessica and she recommended Straightline or Study.com, but I see so many people use Sophia for many of these classes. Here is a list of which classes Jessica recommends I take elsewhere, can anyone give me some feedback on which platform would be best to complete these particular classes the easiest/fastest? The courses I'm looking at taking are Biology with lab, Intro to Environmental Studies, Spanish, Intro to Ethics or Intro to Philosophy, US History or World Civilizations, American Government, Intro to Sociology. Any insight would be appreciated :

For UMPI, I would take everything you can first with Sophia.org since they're offering a free month. If you require more courses, extend that, and then work on other ACE recommended credits either from Sophia.org or InstantCertCredit, Study.com, etc. If you're going for UMPI, you need to make sure you have a lab science and language course. So, skip StraighterLine altogether... no, it's not StraightLiner...
Now to get you started: 1) Invest in a second monitor for easier multi-tasking and answer search.
2) Subscribe to Sophia.org and apply promo code AvonSpring22 for a FREE month, non proctored.
3) Complete as many Sophia.org courses as you can that don't duplicate, up to 20-25+ courses.
If you need to extend the membership, it's just $79/month for 2 courses at a time, unlimited courses.
Once done with the max of Sophia.org courses, you should update this thread with a new evaluation.

Last but not least, I would recommend you to "reread, review" your previous threads for more details and retain the information.

Do NOT take either English Comp I or II at anywhere except for UMPI if you will be attending UMPI. It's faster and easier to take it from the school itself.

Free month is no longer working. Tried to sign up this morning and it says the promo code is invalid. Bummer. Was tempted to email them, but since I am not actually an Avon rep wasn't sure whether that was sensible...

Thank you for that tip! I know my posts are somewhat repetitive, I’m just trying to get as much info as I can so I don’t waste time and money. I appreciate the help

Thread 2: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...ng-parents Thank you for the info. The reason I asked about Sophia was because when I emailed Jessica and asked about taking my GEC from other places like Study.com and Sophia, she specifically mentioned Straightline, study.com and InstantCert Bc they have agreements with them. I asked about Sophia and she didn’t say anything about having an agreement with them, which I know they must, because everyone on this forum uses them for some or most of their GEC requirements. I am going to UMPI, so you mentioned I would need a science with a lab and a language course, so I would need to skip Straightline all together? Can you explain that part a little more? Does Straightline not offer what I need for the language and science requirements?
Thank you for the response. I appreciate it

Basically, StraighterLine no longer is my number 1 provider, it dropped to number 3 (after Sophia and Study.com), Sophia.org jumped to that spot shortly after they changed their pricing model to $79/month, 2 courses at a time, unlimited courses per month. It's simply the cheapest, easiest, fastest, and best non-proctored course provider. Invest in a second monitor, 1 screen with the quiz/test, 1 screen with the PDF/course material open. You can finish a course with relative ease...
COSC, EC, TESU, UMPI, WGU and many other institutions will take ACE, it won't really matter which provider as long as it's courses are ACE recommended for credit. InstantCertCredit, Saylor.org, Sophia.org, StraighterLine, Study.com are all my favorites, but not all of the providers have each and everyone of the required courses by themselves, you'll have to "mix and match" by taking multiple providers to hit the 90 credit requirements for transfer.
StraighterLine does have Spanish I & II, they also have Sciences with Labs, however, you're paying a membership of $99/month, plus the course of $299 per language. The science courses and labs are $59 for the course and over $100 for lab kits, plus shipping costs. If you go with InstantCertCredit Spanish I, it's just $20/month + $15 for exam. Study.com Biology I with Lab is $200 + $59 for virtual lab, there is no shipping of any kit! Follow the steps in the links I sent above...

Labster is actually $69/course for Study.com. Still cheaper than Straighterline, though. Especially since, for your $269, you can take a second course if you really want to do so! With Straighterline, you're paying more than that for just a single course.

Does anyone know why UMPI is not listed on the Sophia website as a school that has previously accepted Sophia classes? I just signed up on Sophia to start getting my GEN ed credits done, and I looked on their website and UMPI is not listed. I know in my earlier post I had mentioned that Jessica had told me to look at classes through Straighterline or Study.com and didn't say anything about Sophia.
