I suppose this is one of those things that you might as well do, just because? (He's going for a dual degree in CS and CIS).

Yes, it is sort of a "just because" type of degree especially if you have 2 bachelor's degrees already. Modern States is still free and College Math is easy relative to the tougher math courses. The Associates in Computer Science would be a big deal if all you had was a Bachelor's of Business Administration CIS and were looking to get a job doing coding. I have seen lots of people get coding jobs with only an Associate's degree in computer programming/science.
Degrees: BA Computer Science, BS Business Administration with a concentration in CIS, AS Natural Science & Math, TESU. 4.0 GPA 2022.
Course Experience: CLEP, Instantcert, Sophia.org, Study.com, Straighterline.com, Onlinedegree.org, Saylor.org, Csmlearn.com, and TEL Learning. Certifications: W3Schools PHP, Google IT Support, Google Digital Marketing, Google Project Management (07-06-2022, 01:47 PM)LevelUP Wrote:(07-06-2022, 01:28 PM)ACI Wrote:(07-05-2022, 11:16 AM)LevelUP Wrote: It looks like the requirements are still the same. Along the lines of coding, I wish there were more options for coding classes when doing the dual degree. Going the dual degree route, I think there might only be 2-3 coding classes that fit.
What type of jobs would include coding for that degree?

Study.com has Python, C/C+, and R in addition to Java. OnineDegree.com also has a Python course. What will happen is those coding classes will be added to your transcript. In the end, on the transcript, you can't tell which classes were taken for which degree. Also, keep in mind for TESU, Scientific Knowledge includes computer science. So you could substitute Environmental Science and Introduction to Human Biology for programming languages. The first thing I suggest is to focus on the one degree the Computer Science degree. Then when you finish do the other stuff. (07-07-2022, 08:52 AM)Dorothy44 Wrote: What type of jobs would include coding for that degree? Jobs that require programming in one or more languages.

He's already taken science courses at RA schools, but yes definitely it's a good idea to just take a bunch of extra programming classes.(07-06-2022, 03:28 PM)ACI Wrote: Along the lines of coding, I wish there were more options for coding classes when doing the dual degree. I had gotten advice earlier that it was better to get the CIS degree before the CS degree (something about it transferring easier at TESU that way). Were you saying you thought it should be the other way around? Or just that one should focus on completing one degree before starting classes for the other?

Around here coding is too simplistic and something they teach more in the elementary.

Most of the certificates are gone. The AA degrees are now formal rather than a "AA with a concentration in", i.e. AA Meteorology. |
