DANTES-funded candidates on hold

Vandalet Wrote:Thanks for the clarification. The why some are still open wasn’t the main concern, we were just warning people that there are some that are still operating since your wording made it sound definitive that none were.

My wording? I never said the test centers were closed.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

I think it was my wording the person was referring to. I started this thread to point out that anyone who falls under the DANTES-funded category of testing candidates will not be able to take their DANTES-funded exam. It doesn't matter what test center they went to -- on the base, off the base at a national test center, etc. As long as the shutdown was on, their funding was off. As of late Thursday, CLEP was notifying all test centers that DANTES-funded exams were NOT to be delivered as yet (even though the shutdown was over). I have been out of the office since then, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that another email has now come through telling us that all is well and return to delivering all exams.

Sorry for causing the confusion...

Any idea when the funding will trickle down? I'm starting to lose my momentum...

Still haven't heard any more communication from CLEP to the test centers, though I see this announcement on the DOD website:
All DANTES funded exams, including computer and paper-based testing as well as transcript services, have resumed.
I will expect to hear something very soon as confirmation from CLEP (never did hear anything from the DSST folks)!

CLEP are counted on the DANTES website. The examination services provided are as follows:

DANTES sponsors a wide range of examination programs to assist service members in meeting their educational goals. They include:

Credit-By-Exam - CLEP, DSST

Entrance Tests - ACT, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, SAT

Other - GED, Praxis

These examinations are administered on over 500 military installations by the DANTES Test Control Officer (TCO), who is normally the Education Services Officer or Navy College Education Specialist for the military installation, or by base-sponsored National Test Centers. About 150,000 DANTES-sponsored examinations are administered each year to military personnel.
