Is it possible to complete a Study.com course during the free 5 day trial, or can you not take the final? Just curious as I have one class I'd like to take there (maybe 2, depending on if I like the format). I've crammed out a few SL courses in that timeframe. Also... any active coupon codes floating around for study.com?
Thanks!

You can take all the lesson quizes and practice exams but you cannot take the exam for credit! I did the free trial a little over a month ago. Still good to do the trial and get a feel for the site before you commit $200.
Oh, also, all the work you do while on your free trial is saved when you start with a regular plan. That was helpful to me in Physical Geology. Without that extra week I wouldn't have been able to get two exams in the first month. If you are completely confident in the subject you might want to just take a dsst or clep. Study.com takes a while to get through. You must take all the lesson quizzes with an 80 or better. Most classes have 100-200 quizzes. Then you must have a webcam and download the proctor software. Just taking the tests in a testing center is going to save you half a day of quiz taking alone.

Unless you are far away from a proctor center (I'm 45 minutes away plus parking, and time spent walking partially across a large campus), or they have inconvenient times that are hard for you to make (mine are M-F 10am and 2pm, and I homeschooled my kids until recently, so that was not a good plan for me), or they charge an inordinate amount for the fees (yes, some places charge $50 or $100 per exam!).
My being able to test at home saves me quite a bit of time and effort. I will always choose that option if possible.
For those who don't like Study.com's setup, there are usually other options besides CLEP/DSST's.

Definitely an emphasis on *might* be a better option. I thought I should give a realistic impression on the length of the courses so that could be factored into the decision making.

Your description of the course was very helpful. Sometimes, people come on here and say that they whipped through a course in a matter of hours, and that's usually not going to be able to be done by most people. A good description with realistic timetables is always good to have.

Because Study.com is video-based, I don't see how one can whip through the course unless they already know the subject well enough to score an 80% on all the quizzes. I think those cases are rare. This is the reason why I opted to spend over $400 for the Anatomy and Physiology Uexcel rather than spend $200 for A&P I and II at Study.com. Speed wasn't really the issue; I just didn't want to spend dozens of hours watching boring videos in order to pass a million quizzes.

You don't need to watch a single video if you don't want to. There is a transcript right under the video window if you want to read. I switch back and forth all the time. The videos are awesome for when I'm driving and sometimes I just read because it doesn't take as long. A ten minute video will take me about five minutes of reading time.

True. I tried doing this with the free Sophia course I had and still didn't finish because it was so boring.

I definitely agree that the videos can get boring, especially if they are reviewing parts of videos that you have already watched/read. I rarely watch many of the actual videos, but I love having the audio to use on the aux while driving. Sometimes the videos do help to pound something into my head if it's not sticking. Hearing it and seeing it on screen can sometimes help me. I do not enjoy reading so much so having both options is perfect for what I want or need.
