Creative Writing
#1
I'm starting the next session and one of the classes I have to take is ENG 211 Intro to Creative Writing. It says, "A student may submit a portfolio of writing to the English faculty and request a waiver of ENG 211," so I figured I could certainly get started with that while I wait!

In a doc someone so kindly shared, I see this needs an artist statement, poetry collection, short story submission with writer statement and observational essay with an artist statement. Has anyone taken it or submitted a portfolio that could tell me a bit more detail? How many poems? How long of an essay, etc...

(If this is not OK, feel free to delete it.)

I don't know anyone who's submitted a portfolio for this class. Keep in mind the Final Assessment is 1 essay not a portfolio so completing the course may be faster. If you want to submit a portfolio, you should speak to your academic advisor. You have to go through them for all of your classes. They should have the info you're looking for.

Thank you! Did you take this class, by chance? The Final Assessment Type column of this document that I got for all of the English Class finals is where I got the portfolio needs. I may just have to wait it out and see what's needed when I start. I'm just ready to go! Smile

I did not need to take Creative Writing. Just a heads up that some of the Final Assessments have changed from that sheet. I had a couple that were different in the business classes. The professors also change sometimes too. Which can be a bummer when there's a professor you really like and are expecting to have for a class and then you don't. LOL That happens too.

Thanks! I had my first bout of self-doubt yesterday as I read some of the final assessments, so I'll try not to put much stock in them until I hear exactly what's expected of me for each class. I am just ready to jump in, I think! Fingers crossed I can make it to the finish line.

When a course opens, you'll be able to see the Final Assessment document. That contains the instructions and rubric. Everything is laid out for you and what you need to do for your submission. You get to submit a rough draft before submitting your Final Assessment. The professors send back comments on what works and what needs improving. It's actually a really great thing having a rough draft submission. I found it very helpful.

Truly horrid... but it is required for me and I am going to have to submit the portfolio instead. I can't give anymore time to trying to pass this class...

Assuming this is the GEC that requires either ENG 211 or ART ... 108 or something, a visual design class, I took Sophia Visual Communications for the ART requirement. It took a couple of hours. Either way, good luck!
