I'm putting together a degree plan for the Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership. I'm looking at the Credit Distribution here Thomas Edison State College | Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership Credit Distribution but it isn't broken down as to which courses are required, for example General Education Electives has 21 credits, Leadership 18 credits. Where can I get a detailed breakdown of all the courses in the BSOL?
Thanks

Where can I get a detailed breakdown of all the courses in the BSOL? Look earlier in the post I made here on your thread. There was an example of what someone else did, same plan. Use it for the degree specific courses (18 cr leadership). You can also look in the TESC catalog (do a google search, not this site) under course descriptions and find the courses with the LDR prefix. As for your general Ed electives, choose whatever you'd like in that section from English, humanities, social science, natural science, and math. You have lots of freedom there. I really like using this link to see my testing options: http://degreeplanners.com/media/TESC_Equivalencies.pdf Keep reading/searching this forum as well, and it will start to come together for you.

APU has a BBA (Bachelors in Business Administration) how does that compare to a BA or BS? I went to TESC to look at the cost of books, and the books alone were very expensive. You don't pay for books at APU. I'm just a little concerned with the name of the school to be completely honest. Thomas Edison State University or American Public University. Am I being too anal?

You don't pay for books at APU. I'm just a little concerned with the name of the school to be completely honest. Thomas Edison State University or American Public University. Am I being too anal? Let me try and make this easier for you. APU requires that you take 30 credits from them. At $250 per class that equates to $7500 for the minimum requirement to get a degree from APU. You are interested in their BBA which requires 9 specific foundation credits and 48 specific Area of study credits. https://www.goarmyed.com/docs/degrees/APU_B-B-ADM.pdf So have you figured out how you are going to complete the 57 specific credits required for the APU BBA? And have you figured out how much taking this route is going to ultimately cost you? If not, I would suggest doing so now. TESC requires that you take 0 credits from them. You can follow in the footsteps of dozens of people who have started from scratch and completed their BSBA from TESC in as little as 9 months to a year for under $8-9K. You have already been provided with the links on how to do that. It requires the same 57 or so credits for the BSBA prereqs and Major Area of Study), but you can complete this entirely through either testing out of (via CLEP, DSST, TECEP, etc....) or taking self-guided courses through Straighterline or Penn Foster. The name of the institution you want to graduate from is the least of your worries. Getting a realistic grasp on what getting a degree from these instituitions entails, what it will cost and how long it will take should be the priority in my opinion. Once you have put pen to paper and figured that out, then your course will be clear.

Geezer,
Seriously! wow, I guess I'm not ready yet. I looked up the price of one of the books at TESC and it was $229 so I figured since APU didn't charge for books it'd be cheaper.

Quote:Geezer, When taking courses or paying for your kids books the first thing you become proficient at is buying used books through either Amazon, Abes etc.... It took me a couple years to figure this out. I payed $150 for my oldest son's English NEW comp book. At the end of the semester he resold it for $20 (without telling me) and kept the money for himself. A year later I bought the same book again NEW for $150 for my youngest son. Then I said "Wait a minute" there has to be a better way. The revelation that you can buy used books has saved thousands in book costs. Live and learn from others experience. Find the book's ISDN # then do a Google search.

Ok, I think after receiving the invaluable guidance from the forum members, I'm going for a BSBA. I found a degree plan posted by Levi, and modified it slightly. Does everything look ok? If so, i'm going for it. Thanks again to everyone who read my posts, and provided guidance. It is very much appreciated.

Hi Gmagerr,
Good job. Looks good except for the following two notations. B. Humanities - 12 credits Introduction to World Religion - DSST (3) German Language-Level 1 - CLEP (6) Humanities - CLEP (3) [partial credit] You are missing the business/managerial communications requirement. Swap out one of these exams for either the TESC MAN373 course, PF Business & Tech Writing ENG216 or SL Business Communications COM300. C. Business Electives - 9 credits Principals of Financial Accounting - DSST (3) duplicates the CLEP used in Business Core. Look for an alternate. Perhaps another TECEP?
