Computing & IT - UK Bachelors Equivalent - £905.00
#1
Interesting! I came across an "CIS/IT" BCS cert, diploma, graduate diploma all through self study!
For the cost of a single certification, you can get an equivalent to a UK Bachelors for only £905.00!
Cert requires 3 courses, Dip requires 4 + Project, Grad dip requires 4 courses + Project

Level 4: https://www.bcs.org/get-qualified/intern...ate-in-it/
Modules: Computer and network technology, Information systems, Software development
Price: £45 x 3 modules = £135

Level 5: https://www.bcs.org/get-qualified/intern...oma-in-it/
Modules: Professional issues, Analysis & Design, Object oriented programming, Software Engineering (1)
Price: £50 x 4 modules + £75 project = £275

Level 6: https://www.bcs.org/get-qualified/intern...oma-in-it/
Modules: Programming paradigms, Software Engineering (2), System Design Methods, Web Engineering
Price: £90 x 4 modules + £105 project = £465

Pricing: https://www.bcs.org/get-qualified/intern...rice-list/
Entire course fee (4 year duration) £30.00 | Select this option instead of 1 year for £20.00

Now, for those who are not into very basic 3 year Bachelors equivalents and want to splurge on a Bachelors (Honors), you can do so at several schools, I would only go for those who are Online, Ranked nationally & internationally,  have a TEF, and same tuition as UK/local students (since BREXIT caused many to bump their tuition for EU/International students).

Entry requirements for this is only a BCS Level 5 Diploma, however, I highly recommend at least a Level 6 as I mentioned above to help your application be more successful, this university is ranked in the top 30 and top 10 for Business programs in the UK, plus tuition is £5,250 (the cheapest so far in my search). I am confused. You say that it's £900 but then you have to pay another £5000 for it to actually be worth something?

In short, Bachelors come in two formats, a regular basic 3 year bachelors, or a honors bachelors of 4 years.
Basically it's this: Level 4, 5, 6 = 3 years, Bachelors Degree (not an honors, just a basic bachelors, essentially each level is 1 year)
It even tells you when you click onto Level 4 cert, Level 5 dip, and Level 6 - the 6th level is equivalent to a "specialist degree"
As mentioned, some want a 4 year Bachelors, that's the honors Top Up, you don't really need it, but it's an option, for an extra £5,250

So it is not an actual degree? But the certifications sum up to be equivalent to a degree?
I see the exams are taken at an exam center.

I wonder if the certification expires like CISCO

Mmm, it makes sense now. So once I get the level 5 certification I can enroll in an institute like Derby and complete the degree for like £5,250. Correct me if I am wrong. Smile This sounds very interesting.

Sounds like a great find, they also have apprenticeships. But where are the test centers?

Basically, I emailed BCS and we'll find out what locations they have - they only have some south Asian/African locations and the UK - Also, I would not cheap out, I would get the Level 6 as well - this article even gives the level 6 "equivalent" to an honors degree, again as I mentioned, it'll give you a leg up on the competition! https://www.insidecareers.co.uk/career-a...ons-exams/

And I am a strange one, I like to have all my requirements met and some more just in case there are applicants that have exactly the same qualifications. These UK Universities are ranked higher than the Big 3 and the CBE options such as WGU/UMPI, etc. Haha, I've already looked at some Level 7 Computing/Data Science ones too, I had this in a previous post. https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...cations-UK

To get the knowledge and to do better at the "Top Up" stage, I'd personally go level to level and then do the Top Up. So, for me, it's level 4-level 7, then a Top Up Masters, bypassing the Top Up Bachelors. As I mentioned in my previous post, for those who want to splurge on the "Top Up Bachelors", they can. For me, I'm going the alternative route...

Looking at the past exam, https://www.bcs.org/get-qualified/intern...m-reports/ Look like BCA is harder than the one that bassed on assessment only (without exam, OTHM). I don't know whether it gives a letter grade or P/F only.

Also, BCS does not have an exam center in Indonesia Sad They only have centers in South Asia and UK only. According to the https://bcscustomerservice.zendesk.com/h...ountry-HEQ- you need to pay an additional 60-80 GBP per module to sit an exam in a non-standard venue.

Level 4+5+6 total 11 modules x 80 GBP = 880 GBP. Total qualification cost 1785 GBP.

I was able to get hold of the live chat agent during their office hours. She told me with the extra 60GBP BCS will facilitate the exam in a venue in my city but since the registration closes tomorrow they won't be able to. The next exam is March 2022. I might give a shot at this.
