Actually, I wasn't aware that CSU had Data Structures online, is it a CSU Global exam? Also, since the changes in the BACS program, the problem now isn't so much getting UL courses, but getting the two new requirements, Computer Architecture and Operating Systems (which are usually UL) cheaply. If they weren't UL, then getting another UL course fairly cheaply would be a very good thing.

It's a class, not an exam, but he likes that school. We are considering a user-designed BS. Something like software development/web design. Not sure yet, but looking for UL level classes. Trying to avoid Computer Architecture.

Unless the tuition is extraordinarily great, I probably won't put it in the spreadsheet, but I'll list it on the second sheet. You can no longer avoid Computer Architecture as it's been made a requirement...unless you're already enrolled on an older catalog.

Sorry I wasn't clear. He is not going for BA in CS. It would not be required for a Learner-designed BS. The class is about $1000, so not cheap. But worth it for us if it came in as UL.

You can compare to the degree plans for other degrees to flesh out GenEd options. I haven't finished filling in LL CS courses because in the past there was so little room for them, but there are enough of them around. There are still not enough alternative credit sources for the UL CS requirements which makes this degree more expensive, but not excessively so. I filled in Computer Architecture and Operating Systems with TESU courses, but it should be possible to find them from other schools like APU for a lower tuition (see second tab). I'm reluctant to put those alternatives in the spreadsheet simply because no one has reported taking them and transferring them in, not because I don't think they would work.
A motivated student with could do this in 2 years. One year would be possible for someone who had experience in the field and enough time to commit.
Thanks Dave. This is exactly what I was looking for. 1 to 2 years is more than reasonable considering a STEM program. Your attached document also gives me an example on how to go about this process. I'll look into this further and give an update.

After investigating further and making calls to several institutions including TESU, I have reached the conclusion that your recommendation for BSBA with a Finance specialization is exactly align with what I want to do. Although CS will play a important role in the industry, I discovered that there is an area of expertise that meshes CS with Finance. And that is called Computational Finance.
All and all , the correct career track i need to follow is BS in Finance into a Computational Finance or Financial Engineering grad program or grad cert.
With your input and feedback, I probably would have stayed off track.
