I started on July second with CLEP and on July eleventh with Sophia. I finished my last class at UMPI on November first. That is exactly 5 months.
I chose the Bachelor’s in Liberal Studies with a management minor because it is the degree that takes the most Sophia/Clep/study.com/InstanTcert credits. My goal was to complete only ten classes at the University of Maine at Presque Isle and get them done in one term. That is what I did; thanks to ashkir and ss20ts for putting together a degree plan for me. I followed that plan and transferred all the earned credits, a total of 97, to UMPI (Please note that only 90 were used). I am posting what I did, hoping that someone gets to benefit from it.
See attached pdf for a complete roadmap to the UMPI Bachelor of Liberal Studies with Managment minor.
COMPLETED: Southeast Tourism Society - TMP (02/2020) Pierpont Community and Technical College - AAS BOG, AOE: English (12/2018) FEMA - PDS Certificate (04/30/2014) GED (11/16/2004)
Hello everyone. It has been a busy year. Sorry to all of you who messaged me and got no response, I am not active here anymore. I just wanted to share with you that exactly one year ago I finished my BLS at UMPI and 2 weeks later I was accepted at NWCU. I just finished my first year there and I received my final grades for the first 4 courses, last night. I passed and I am now headed to start 2L next month. Since I had a BLS I am not required to take the baby bar.
FYI I am now 51 years old, immigrant and English is my second language.

This is awesome! I’m also looking to finish my Liberal Studies degree ASAP and apply to law school. I have 30 credits left and I’m taking the LSAT in April

Which Liberal Studies degree? UMPI? Are the remaining 30 credits the residency credits? Good luck, carry on with getting those credits...

I’ve applied to TESU already but just found out about UMPI last night so now I’m rethinking my plan. I used to have almost enough credits to graduate with a BLS from TESU but that was 13 years ago and I was using something like 27 FEMA credits that are no longer accepted at TESU. So basically I just have around 30 credits in free electives left to complete. I would really like to avoid the TESU mandatory capstone and other courses that they now require. UMPI seems like a great alternative for my needs, especially since it looks like the YourPace courses award a letter grade and I could really use a boost in my GPA (2.75) before I start applying to law schools. I have dozens of CLEP/DANTES/ACE/ALEKS credits already transferred into TESU. I should probably just use the template for new member introductions. I need my credit evaluation from TESU first though, and it won’t be available until after the holidays.

As far as the LSAT goes, I took it once in 2009 at the height of my InstaCert/DegreeForum manic phase of knocking out 100+ credits in less than a year. I didn’t study at all and scored a 148 out of 180, 36th percentile. I’m not looking to get into any prestigious schools though, just an American Bar Association-accredited 3-year ONLINE JD program. Southwestern University School of Law is at the top of my list.
