I might really think on where to use those 15 credits....if one elected to earn upper level credit with them that would be an added bonus and add to the value IMO.
Yeah, I wouldn't have even considered this for my older son, but my younger one is a wild card with a boyfriend a few thousand miles away. Once he's 18, who knows how long I can keep him home and/or in school. The piece of paper might be worth the money. He's also got a year with Study.com so if he can complete some credits there too this year he'll be in really good shape. And hell, at that point getting the AS from PF might actually make sense, particularly with the alumni discount and the block transfer WGU does. On the downside, the 15 credits of electives come from a very limited pool. If we go this route, I will of course see if there is any wiggle room, as those upper level credits would sure be more valuable than art appreciation, composition, etc.
Here Researching for my son, who has done the following:
Community College: Intro to Philosophy, Fundamentals of IT, English Comp 1
Saylor: Intro to Business, Principles of Marketing, Corporate Communication
Shmoop: US History 2 (WGU won't accept this)
ALEKS: Int. Algebra, College Algebra
Study.com: Personal Finance, Principles of Finance, HR Management, Global Business, Advanced Operations Management
Straighterline: US History 2, Environmental Science, US History, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, English Comp 2, Principles of Management, Business Law, Business Ethics, Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Accounting 1,Communication, Managerial Accounting, Statistics
Ed4Credit: Managing Information Systems
Sophia: Project Management
WGU: Bachelors in HR Management
Second son is currently attending Penn Foster for his high school diploma, then on to Ashworth for An Associates in Criminal Justice

No. He's 15 and had a really rough year last year in which we pretty much let him skip schoolwork in favor of mental health, arts and crafts, and having a surgery which had a long recovery. So he's a bit behind high-school wise AND really in need of getting some college credits done before age 18 - hopefully enough to get an AS. This is the one reason I'm looking at PF. Traditional homeschooling isn't working well with him, and I'm at my wits' end at this point. Hoping he can do English Comp, History, Intro to Computing, and a few more via Study.com since he has a paid subscription - but blowing through two courses a month like my other son is NOT going to happen.

Good for you for supporting your son and his health, Rowan.
Does he have a potential major in mind? I know 15 is really early for some boys especially to think about that, but it might help get him hooked on getting college credits if he gets to focus on a particular interest. I can see where the PF thing might work well for him. Excelsior will also take up to 25% of a degree from NA credits (in addition to the ACE-approved PF credits), in case he sees something there he likes.

He has zero career aspirations. He's my tough kid - nothing has been simple with him! He's planning to follow in his brother's footsteps and get a business degree since it will give him skills which would be valuable in most jobs he might end up with.
