They are on the quarter system, so it's $171. Considering that if/when you transfer that, it turns into 3 semester hours, it's still very cheap but $57 per credit.

I'm good with the math converting quarters to semesters, but I think they now charge anyone outside CA $160 a unit.  So a 5 unit class (5*160=$800) would convert down to a 3 semester hour class (or about 800/3=$267 a semester hour, ouch).

FYI, it is a 2/3 conversion, so a 5 quarter-hour course converts to 3.33 semester-hour credits and a 4.5 qh course converts to 3 sh credits. If you look at the Foothill course schedule, for example, you'll notice that a number of their courses are 4.5 credits to ease conversion.

Colleges are so ridiculous. What do they do with the 30-100k from all of those students. Pretty sad how pricey colleges are. I've been hardcore shopping around for an EHS masters, and it hit me just how stupidly expensive most schools are. Made-up fees on top of already ridiculously high CH costs. Its a joke. Then most people have to take out stupid loans to pay the stupid prices. Seems it gets worse and worse.

IMO college tuition is in a bubble, just like housing was 10 years ago if you have a pulse you can borrow.  $50k a year for liberal arts degree that at best pays $50k at graduation, no problem. As long as people can borrow the prices will keep going up.

If it weren't for, no relief in bankruptcy, maybe the loans would dry up and tuition would drop.

While it won't help on the tuition, you can apply for a waiver for most, or all, of those additional fees at Foothill. I think they have a waiver that makes all that automatic for out of state or in California but non-local.
