It's already cleared up as being misinformed; however, it is such a miss–we need to move away from merging price as confirmation of accreditation or value in a degree. It's outdated and can create poor guidance for students searching for the best path to reaching their academic goals.

Quote: With respect to University of the People, basically it's a real scam, uopeople.reviews lifts the veil to reveal it's not even a USA school, it's siphoned and run through its Israel company University of the People Education Ltd.
Scam is the uopeople.reviews site, run by some badly hurt person (full info is available somewhere, I have read it, not sure if he tried to sneak in as instructor with fake credentials or something like that, some problem of that type, anyway it is not needed as most of what he writes is non-sense easily proven by a little research.

An easily detected lie from that website: "Portugal doesn´t recognize UoPeople", it does. It´s specifically listed in their qualifications´ recognition website.

According to the United States Department of Education website, The University of the People located in Pasadena, California is accredited by DEAC and a candidate for WASC accreditation. https://ope.ed.gov/dapip/#/institution-profile/233675

We can agree that opinions about the quality of the coursework of schools vary greatly. However, this school is currently accredited! With that said, institutional accreditation and program accreditation are two different things! A school that is accredited can offer programs in business that may not be programmatically accredited but the school can still grant an accredited degree in business. Program accreditation is particularly important when it leads to licensing and/or certification such as in healthcare fields, counseling, accounting (CPA), law, etc.

Attending a school that is accredited should be an important consideration! Ensuring you attend a program within the school that is programmatically accredited is part of the due diligence process which includes researching license and/or certification requirements, job utility, employer preference, VA or employer tuition reimbursement issues, and many other considerations.

I don't work for any school at this time nor do I endorse any school.

That's correct, it's just some person and their 'view' of things... When looking at the picture, it can mean so many different things the writer is talking about, they're just too up-tight on something and picky, none the less... Miss-information is key in what they're writing...

Misinformation like this actually hide real issues that exist in these types of institutions by muddying the water.

The classes I took felt like mind-numbing busy work with a bunch of pointless discussion forums, they goofed my financial aid, they bumped my degree conferral date, and they were just painful to get any helpful info from. So, I don't want to go there for an MA.

But, I do want a master.s In literally anything. Master's in Arts, Master's in Science...

My literal only requirement is that it be accredited... ideally regionally.

MBA, Master's in Marketing, Master's in Organizational Leadership, or Master's in Public Relations, or anything.

I've been Googling "master's degrees online under $10,000" but haven't found many good options. I don't even care if it's 20K if they allow federal financial aid (federal grad student loans) if it's a master's in something that would boost my career. I'm on the edge of entry-level and mid-career. I eventually want to be an online professor or online TA/grader for some bottom-tier online university (APUS?), so I need *some* master's degree. I don't want to take the GRE or GMAT and have a 3+ GPA (and come with 12 graduate credits with a 3.5+ graduate GPA already). I'm wanting a 1-2 year program, no internships/externships, or that non-sense. I prefer it to have a practical project, not a thesis, but can deal with a thesis if I'm attending literally any college other than Excelsior.

My current contenders in Master's in Marketing/Comm/PR are:
- Wichita State University, approx $9K
- Arkansas State University, approx $11K
- California Coast University, approx $11K

Any advice for me? Any good marketing/PR/comm/journalism programs I'm missing? Anything just crazy cheap? A master's in underwater basketweaving for <$10K is one I would consider... so long as it's not at Excelsior. I have had University of the People's MBA in consideration at about $5K, but they're not regionally accredited.
University of the Cumberlands is $315 per unit - Regionally accredited

LSU-Shreveport is also low with a good variety - Regionally accredited

Anecdote: I know someone who graduated from Wichita State University and said the business school is excellent! https://www.wichita.edu/about/wsunews/ba...-aacsb.php

I recommend a regionally accredited and business school accredited state university at a minimum. The Excelsior University degree certainly checks a box as an accredited degree but lacks prestige, luster, magic, etc. Obtaining a reputable master's degree will only magnify your accomplishments and be worth the effort.

As a side note, I believe schools like Excelsior, Thomas Edison, Charter Oak, etc., serve an excellent purpose. Universities like these allow non-traditional students to leverage their older college credits and military and civilian training and earn a respectable and accredited degree. Additionally, and very significantly, many graduates have upgraded their qualifications through graduate-level studies at prestigious schools. If you can get accepted and have the time, discipline, and other resources necessary for success, you should attend a respected graduate school. It may make all the difference.
