Thanks - I have lots of upper-level classes that do not apply to a business major (they would apply to an English major, or to some extent, anything similar).
I haven't taken any classes from any of the sources that get discussed on this board - study.com, Penn Foster, etc. In my case, I like self-directed study. The idea of a video, or perhaps an interactive guide that includes video and some simple quizzes, with an exam at the end, appeals to me. If I see the same course available in more than one place - for example, if the same course name appears on study.com and on Penn Foster - is there a rule of thumb which is better, for whatever reasons? Or even a rule of thumb for how they differ?
With a few exceptions, I would prefer self-directed study + final exam over simply a final exam. Basically, I want to move as quickly as I can without the risk of failure in a class/test spiking.
If it's an area where I am very confident, simply taking a CLEP or other exam is fine, but for an area like business law or microeconomics, I would rather have some help preparing.

If I were you, I would also look into a BSBA from TESU. It is MUCH easier to fulfill the UL credit requirements there for the degree - because they only require 12cr of UL (vs. 30 at COSC) and because they count more credits as UL than COSC does. You can get all of your UL business courses from TESU via Straighterline or Study.com, or through a TECEP. It's very easy there to do this.
If you want to list the courses you've previously taken, I can make a plan for you that is very easy to follow. Just list the courses you've taken at each school (course number and name), the number of credits, and the grade if less than a C. It should look something like this:
School A (CC, semester-based)
ECO-101 Microeconomics 3cr
SPA-101 Spanish I 4cr
School B (4-yr college, semester-based)
BUS-350 Business Communication 3cr
FIN-400 Principles of Finance 3cr

Thanks - I'll see if I can figure out an easy way to post what classes I already have credit for. It is all old (20+ years old), and I don't have a copy of the transcript. I've had it sent directly to Excelsior and COSC and just reviewed what they gave me credit for. COSC gave me 100 hours total. I have credit for lots of English classes, including upper level (I was an English major way back when).
I just applied at TESU for business administration. I am hoping I have a chance to talk to someone there to also ask what it would take to get an English degree, in case that is a far smaller effort. I know at Excelsior, I would only need about 5 or 6 classes to get a "liberal studies" degree.
So far, I've been impressed by the (for lack of a better word) customer service at COSC. I spent about half an hour talking with Allison C. at COSC, and she was helpful and friendly, so I do have a positive opinion about COSC so far (not having actually enrolled yet). But ultimately, I'm looking for path of least resistance to a bachelor's in business, OR a bachelor's in English if that is far faster and easier.

Well, I don't have my transcript, so I can't post my specific classes from my prior school (NC State University in the early 90s). But here is what COSC says I need and don't need, if that's enough for further suggestions. Sorry for the formatting, but hopefully it makes sense. It starts with an overview, then adds the key areas of detail.
Some of the hour counts are weird (like 8.10 instead of 9) - that is a bug on the COSC site and can be disregarded.

It's not really helpful, since COSC, EC and TESU have different requirements.
Get an unofficial transcript sent to you, and keep it. You never know when you'll need it, and it's always good to know what you've completed.
Once you get the info, let us know and we'll help from there.

Ah, well. Thanks for the offer, and maybe I can revisit later if I get that transcript. I just applied to TESU today. Unlike the other two, they didn't ask for a college transcript as part of the application, so I suppose they'll request it later for transfer credit data. I might be able to take my next step there next week.
There probably is a thread about sources of online transfer credit, I'll take a look ... at the moment, I'm trying to figure out the differences in course structure, cost etc among study.com, Saylor, Straighterline and Penn Foster. Looking for threads on that as I'm sure it's a common question.

There are plenty of posts about this, but here's something that may help: http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...llege.html

Charter Oak would probably be the best fit for you since you already have so many upper division credits. You are right that the customer service at COSC is tops. You are probably already very close to some kind of degree at COSC with an individual studies degree.
If you go for the major in Business Administration, I would strongly suggest that you use General Business as your concentration instead of organizational management. I don't think OM would bring you any benefit, but it would be harder to test out of the requirements.
You will need to take the cornerstone at COSC. It looks like for general ed you are lacking speech, ethics, and math. You can get a waiver pretty easily for speech if you have done any formal public speaking. Otherwise, the Strighterline Intro to Communications is a great way to fulfill this requirement. For ethics, the Business Ethics DSST is great because it is a relatively easy test and will also count as an upper level business elective. Penn Foster is also upper level but pricier. There are lower level options here like Study.com. For math, you should take Business Statistics since you will need it as a business prerequisite anyway. Straighterline is a great option. ALEKS is also a good option (although there is some discussion that ALEKS may lose their ACE recommendation at the end of January, so you may want to finish this one quickly).
For Business you will need:
ACC 101: Financial Accounting 3 cr: Study.com
ACC 102: Managerial Accounting 3 cr: Study.com
BUS 120: Business Law 3 cr: Study.com
MGT 101: Principles of Management 3 cr: Study.com
ITE 101: Management Information Systems 3 cr: Study.com
MKT 220: Principles of Marketing 3 cr: Study.com
FIN 210: Finance Management 3 cr: Study.com
MGT 315: Organizational Behavior 3 cr: DSST or Penn Foster for Upper Level. (Study.com lower level)
BUS 499: Capstone (COSC)
Three Upper Level Business Electives: Upper Level Business Ethics from DSST or Penn Foster, Advanced Operations Management from Study.com, Project Management from Sophia (Many other options here)
â¢ECO103: Macroeconomics: Study.com
â¢ECO 104: Microeconomics: Study.com
â¢BUS 201: Business Statistics: Straighterline or ALEKS
I have included a lot of Study.com courses because it seemed like those would work well for you based on one of your earlier comments. Many of these could also be done by CLEP, Straighterline, etc.
You have a fantastic start! Let me know if you have any questions.
I don't know what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future.

VERY helpful! Thanks!
With study.com, is there a way to take more than two exams per month? (Likely dumb question)
