Hi there, I'm thinking of changing my degree from a bachelor's of arts in computer science to a bachelor's of science in engineering systems & electronics technology. I feel that it would fit better for me, as it sounds more backend-focused, and it may allow for a wider range of career opportunities suiting me. What should I know about this degree? What prerequisite courses should I take?

It really depends on what your goals are. If you intend to accelerate through it, you're out of luck. This program has a lot of specific courses you can't find anywhere else, such as DC Circuits, AC Circuits, and so forth. Thus, you couldn't get much for your AOS from Sophia, Study, and so forth.
Thus, you'd have to take those classes at TESU or some other school. In addition, I'm pretty sure you'd spend more money on this program than on the BACS program. It is definitely more math heavy (which is good if you like and are good at it). I think it is a very interesting program, but if speed and money are important for you, BACS may be better for you.

Someone I know looked into doing ESET, but they were transferring many of the courses from a local brick and mortar college. Many of those courses would have been difficult to find substitutes online, as mentioned by animuscerebri.
It will cost you a lot more time and money to do ESET at TESU. If you need their delivery method, then it might be worth considering. Otherwise try a local college. Excelsior also has an option. https://www.excelsior.edu/program/bachel...echnology/ There are some other online schools that offer this path, it may be worth looking into it. But no matter what, the course load is a lot more intense. If you want to go into electrical, do it!! Also consider if the degree is recognised by ABET or an equivalent body. It may or may not be important. |
