I'm almost done with my BACS at TESU - thank you awesome people and your terrific advice! I also got my SO on the TESU train. I'm trying to help him get the BSBA General Management quickly - the degree could help him get a promotion at work. He has a decade of experience in IT, and looking to move up to a managerial position. I thought I would help with planning so he can focus on going through the classes quickly. Transcripts have been sent to TESU yesterday, but since they take 1+ months to evaluate credits, I was hoping you guys could help us plan the most efficient route. Thank you!
57 credits - Community college: (these credits are over 10 years old, they're 3 credit classes unless specified otherwise):
ACC 211 Financial Accounting
ACC 212 Managerial Accounting
CIS 105 Survey Computer Info Systems
CNT 150 Cisco Net Router Tech
CNT 160 Cisco Adv Routing & Switching
CNT 170 Cisco Project Based Learning
COM 230 Small Group Communication
ECN 111 Macroeconomic Principles
ECN 112 Microeconomic Principles
ENG 101 First-Year Composition
ENG 102 First-Year Composition
GBS 221 Business Statistics
GLG 110 Geol Disasters, Envrnmn (3 lecture credits + 1 lab credit)
GPH 111 Intro to Physical Geography (3 lecture credits + 1 lab credit)
HIS 102 Hist of W Civ-1789-Pres
HUM 210 Contemporary Cinema
PED 202JX Physical Activity (one credit)
PSY 101 Introduction to Psychology
SOC 101 Introduction to Sociology
6 credits - ACE Credit-Recommended ALEKS: (taken over the past few weeks, wanted to lock these down before the end of the month, they are already transferred to ACE)
Intermediate Algebra
College Algebra
On to TESU. I know he has to wait for the evaluation, but since he's in a time crunch, he'd like to start working on some credits ASAP. SL, DSST and Aleks are preferred options. From general education options, looks like he might be missing for sure Ethics (SL Business Ethics or DSST Business Ethics) & Civic Engagement (SL American Government). I'm not sure on the other parts (oral communication, understanding the physical and natural world etc.) He will have to wait for the TESU eval.
He has a business stats course, would he need an additional statistics class as well (would Aleks or SL intro to stats count?)
From business core options, looks like he could start working on Business Law (SL), Principles Of Management (SL), Intro To Marketing (CLEP or Saylor), Principles Of Finance (DSST, does Penn Foster still work as well?), Business In Society (TECEP looks like the only option?), Business Communication (SL or Saylor) and Strategic Management (CSU CBE). Since the transfer credits are old and LL, I think the AoS will be empty for now - we'll get to it after the TESU eval.
Do you guys see any other classes he might be able to do right now that would not duplicate his transfer credits?
I'm including my spreadsheet, which has all (or most) of the options for taking courses. He can start taking things immediately, and might even be able to finish his degree before TESU finished his eval!
I think the Cisco courses will not transfer into Gen Ed, and they are too old to be used in the AOS, so they may just have to be used in Free Electives. But I'm not 100% sure on that, so those would have to wait to be evaluated.
Be sure to remember that if he opts for SL, that he'll get the most bang for his buck if he takes at least 2 courses in a month (the more he finishes, the cheaper each course will be).
With Study.com, the $199/mo price includes 2 courses, and if you finish 2 and take the final exams for them, then you can take additional courses for $70 each. You can also use the Study.com membership to study for other exams (for example, use it to take Principles of Finance and Global Management, but use the study materials for Management and Marketing and then take those as Saylor exams for $25 each).

dfrecore - you are AMAZING! Thank you so much for the spreadsheet and for plugging in all the courses, everything makes total sense now. Seriously, I am so grateful. You guys are the most helpful people on the internet.
Roger that ndelcollo - he's going to look into the course. Free is great! I was also amazed with Aleks - 6 credits for $20 + the transcript fees. That's pretty incredible.

The only credits left are precalc/trig, and he'd have to finish by 12/31. Otherwise they expire. It doesn't cost anything to send it to ACE though, so just the $20 fee to sign up for a month, and 3cr.
TESU only accepts 4 courses from ALEKS, and you already have 3 of them (Stats, Intermed. Algebra, and College Algebra).

Yeah, finishing pre-calc by the end of the month is going to be a tall order. For the Aleks credits that are already sent to ACE - these don't expire, correct? 99% sure they don't, but just want to make sure.
Is there a forum consensus on "easy" GE electives? Credits that could be taken with a minimum of studying for someone who's been in the corporate world for a while.
The Institutes website has been down for the last 24 hours :/ How is the course? Is it very long/difficult? Are there quizzes, or just a proctored final?

Nothing that's already on your ACE transcript expires.
Nothing "easy" for a business major, since business courses don't normally come in under GE. I would just take a look at all of the options, and decide which ones sounded "easy" to you. No one else can tell you what easy is, because it's so different for everyone.
You don't have to do the course for The Institutes, you can just take the unproctored quiz, and as many times as you need to get to 70%. Then go grab it from ACE.

He passed the Ethics course over the weekend, took maybe 3 hours. Lots of common sense questions and the study material was really good and clear. A little tedious but we were expecting a lot worse!
Last question - Would the TEEX Cyber 101, 201 and 301 count as GE electives for BSBA Gen Management? I've looked through old posts but the information seems to change a lot. If they could come in as GE electives, that would be 6 easy credits.

1 does, the other 2 don't. So 2cr, although "easy" is again relative. I stared one of them, and it took forever to get through, so I gave up on it. I like things that take a little less time for it to be considered "easy."
Cybersecurity for Business Professionals comes in as either CIS-244 or CIS-344 (TESU changes their minds on a regular basis here), and should come in as a GE Elective. The other 2 will come in as Free Electives.
