Also, not knowing what the stat symbols meant took me longer to understand the explanations. I finally printed out a chart of all the symbols, and was able to refer to the chart - made life much easier for me.
Yep, 100% agree. I was moving incredibly slowly through the pie until I found the videos and learned all of the tricks of the ALEKS calculator. I was accomplishing nothing using the ALEKS instructions. Once I learned the shortcuts with the calculator, it was smooth for the most part. It's really a shame ALEKS doesn't give tutorials about their own calculator and the hidden features. Some questions that previously took 30-40 minutes to figure out and work the math, literally were answered with a few clicks of the calculator and 2 minutes of time. John Wood is my hero.

I didn't realize that John Wood did that - I skipped the videos because I wanted to go faster milelol: But I finally figured out the Aleks calculator on my own!

Oh yea, if I could find my ALEKS notebook I would find the easy topics so I could link one of the videos. There were many topics where I didn't need the notebook/scratch paper at all once I wrote the notes and steps for the shortcuts. I could just read the problem, insert the numbers correctly into the calculator for the tricks, and get the answer 100% of the time within basically seconds.
And to anyone who may think it's stupid to just learn the tricks, and not the actual matieral...basically any job that would need stats would allow a calculator or Excel. Nobody sits at their desk and actually writes out the formulas and does the math by hand in 2017. Also, I have no intention of ever using Stats again in my life hilarious

If precalc is not your flavor, go for trigonometry, as they will be duplicate credits at TESU, beginning algebra won't be accepted.
Do you or anyone else that may be reading this recommend PreCalc or Trig in regards to difficulty of the class?

if you asking which is easier the choice may have already been made for you
https://www.aleks.com/about_aleks/ace_credit
*Students cannot receive ACE credit for both of the courses in the following combinations:
- College Algebra --- College Algebra with Trigonometry
- College Algebra --- PreCalculus
- College Algebra with Trigonometry --- Trigonometry
- Trigonometry --- PreCalculus
- College Algebra with Trigonometry --- PreCalculus
so if you have done or plan on doing College Algebra with them you can't do PreCalculus

Yes, this is new! But, this is not what it says on the ACE database. Here's what that says:
For Precalculus - Students may not receive credit for both this course and College Algebra with Trigonometry.
For College Algebra with Trig, it does not have a disclaimer about precalc.
So, I would go by the ACE database, and do College Algebra, and one of the higher level courses (TESU counts them all the same). And Stats.
You're down to 9cr through ACE, if you're at TESU. The only thing lost was Intermediate Algebra.

Hi, I'm new here. How long does ALEKS usually take to re-new their ACE status? I just found out about ALEKS last night, but now I'm unsure I'll be able to finish any courses before the expiration date.

There is no guarantee that they will renew, so I would start and try to pass College Algebra. If you don't finish by expiration of ACE, you can always switch to another platform.
