Can I transfer credit FROM TESC/Excelsior to my home regional state university?

Can I transfer credit FROM TESC/Excelsior to my home regional state university?

Quite simple as that. I live in Kentucky and I attend the University of Louisville. Thomas Edison State College & Excelsior College accept A) FEMA credits B) ALL of the CLEP credits C) All of the Dantes credits.

If I were able to get these on a transcript from TESC or Excelsior, would it be possible to transfer them to my state college with ease, or is that not possible?

Thanks for all the input, and before you ask I did search the forums to no avail

Thanks everyone!

It's really up to the University of Louisville whether or not they will accept ACE or FEMA credits. Just because one school accepts them and puts them on a transcript doesn't mean that another institution will automatically accept them.

The Freshman College Composition CLEP I passed was accepted at two of the schools I've attended and rejected at two others. The fact that it was listed on two different transcripts did not prompt the other two schools to accept it. If that makes sense.

With regards to CLEP and DSST, this link takes you to the University of Louisville's Office of Admissions webpage with test credit information.

University of Louisville Office of Admission - Test Credit

With regards to FEMA, what you're asking about is referred to as "credit laundering" which means, you transfer credits to a school that re-transcribes the credit in a way that makes it appear as if the credits were earned in that institution. On your TESC transcript, the FEMA credits would show as transfer credits from FEMA. Therefore, UoL would more than likely want an official transcript directly from FEMA. You'd have to ask their admissions department whether or not they accept FEMA. Excelsior does not accept credits directly from FEMA.

FEMA has an agreement with Fredrick Community College to allow students to launder their credits through FCC for a fee, but it's expensive. You can find more information on that program here:

What the others said plus some more for your understanding. As regionally accredited schools, credits earned at TESC and Excelsior will transfer to most colleges. CLEP, DSST, FEMA, etc. are not credits earned at TESC and Excelsior. The transcripts for CLEP, FEMA, DSST, etc. will more than likely have to be sent directly to University of Louisville and evaluated on their own merit. Since these aren't credits from regionally accredited colleges, schools have come up widely varying policies on their acceptance. CLEP and DSST are accepted by thousands of colleges, but not all of the exams are always accepted. FEMA credits are accepted directly by only a few colleges. There might be a better chance of having them accepted if they are laundered through Frederick Community College.

Just in case Clep3705 comes in here talking about Texas, Texas's administrative code does not apply to your situation.

At some universities, if you have a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university, they will waive the general education requirements as a block for a second degree. In every case I have seen, you must still meet any prerequisite requirements, but it may be a way of getting past the typical 60 credits from a four year school requirement.

This reminds of the schools that take block transfers for associates degrees. Some of them only do this for schools with which they have articulation agreements while others, like Bellevue, accept associates degrees as a block transfer from any accredited college.
