Ok let's not start this all over again. There is a specific CUNY that is a world renowned research facility. Many New Yorkers (those in the city) just refer to that campus as CUNY. The City College of New York is the campus commonly referred to as CUNY. Many campuses like Hunter College and Queens College are referred to by their name and not CUNY.
