I'm getting ready to delve into MLA/style guides. I have a few questions:
- For the BA in English (at TESU), will most courses require MLA?
- Do some teachers (in BA of English) ask for CMOS (Chicago Manual of Style), or other style guides instead?
For the MLA, apparently, the 8th edition was poorly rewritten, as well as containing a number of contested changes.
- For those who have used both the 7th and 8th edition, what has been your experience?
- Also, have teachers completely phased out the use of 7th edition guidelines, and are expecting the 8th edition changes?

For my study.com writing assignment, the instructor asked me to follow the 2016 MLA version that is on the Purdue OWL website. Easybib seems to follow the more recent MLA-8.

I've only seen TESU syllabi that give the choice of MLA or APA, never CMOS. I imagine it's consistent across the institution... but I haven't seen every syllabus of course, so I could be wrong.
