CLEP exams schedule for 2010
#1
Hi,
I'm new to this forum and also in taking CLEP exams. I' m yet to join the college, before that planning to finish 5 subjects in CLEP. The college where I'm applying accepts the credits from CLEP.
Can we take 2-3 subjects in the CLEP exam,in a month?.
we are not supposed to repeat the same subject within 180days from the date we take them.
Do we have to approach for the CLEP EXAM DATES in the community colleges, where we register for the CLEP exam ?.
Is there any particular website where we can see the CLEP exam dates for 2010?.

Kindly let me know, i'm planning to take 2/3 subjects in this month.

Thanks,

Craniac Maniac posts about longest signature has a reply from one of the members that has the clep website address on it. That site will give you most of the answers your asking.

Mine was the only sig with a link there, so you're probably talking about me. I don't think I have anything answering these questions on FCP, though it's probably something that should get done - a FAQ of sorts... Hmm, item #724 on the to-do list. Tongue

Chuchil, in answer to your questions:

You can take as many CLEP's in a month that you want, provided you can find a testing center to give them and you have the funds available. The 180 day limit comes into play when you're talking about taking the same exam twice. In other words, if you take the College Math and fail it, you have to wait 180 days to take that particular exam again. You can take the College Algebra CLEP the next day if you want, because while it covers the same subject (Math), it's not the same test.

I'm not sure I understand your second question, but it looks like you're asking if you find out the dates for the test at the college you register for the exam. If that's the question; then yes, the college where you register to take the exam will have the dates that they give them. Just ask the college when the next testing date is.

I think the third questions ties into the second. You don't register for these online anywhere, and they don't have the dates in one central area. You'll need to do the following steps:

1) Find a college or testing center nearby that gives the CLEP, DSST exams. You can find the CLEP centers using this tool - CLEP Test Center Search

2) Go to that testing center and ask the dates that they give the exams.

3) Pick a date and register for the exam with the testing center. You may need to pay the sitting fee immediately, or they may ask you to wait until you actually show up to take the test.

4) When the testing day comes, show up at the testing center well rested, well prepared, and ready to get some credits.

Hope that helps.

Free Clep Prep.com is by far the best source for exam information. This place is second best, but still well worth the $20 a month, IF you complete a bunch of exams in a short amount of time (or do an upper level exam, like the World Population ECE that I specifically paid the IC membership for). If you are looking for a source text to study, I HIGHLY recommend your local library. Since CLEP exams are general, you don't need a specific book, just one that covers the content (and, for certain exams, were printed sometime within your lifetime Big Grin).

Lol, I appreciate the sentiment MC, but Free-Clep-Prep wouldn't be around if it wasn't for InstantCert. This forum (and the people who post here) pretty much taught me everything I know about these exams. Steve's been nothing but helpful since the site was started a year ago. I've always looked at Free-Clep-Prep as something to introduce and supplement IC, but never replace it. I don't think anything can do that. IC's just too good at what it does and these forums are a huge part of that.

You're absolutely right about the books. A lot of people end up buying a specific book when they can most likely find something for free at the library that will work just as well. Print off the exam fact sheet and then compare it with the table of contents in each book. Once you find something that covers everything on the fact sheet, you'll be covered. The only downside of library books is that you can't mark in them. If that's not an issue then library is the way to go.

Lately I've been looking around for a website that carries old versions of textbooks. I've found a couple of cheap alternatives, but Amazon keeps coming up the overall winner. If you find one of the DSST suggested textbooks on Amazon and look under related items, you can often find an older version for pennies on the dollar.

Wait a minute, wait a minute... WOAH! You mean to tell me that YOU are the creator of that masterpiece?! :patriot:

I started using your site well before I even heard of instantcert... and I must disagree with you on one point. Your site is better, and free :hurray:
