CLEP Principles of Accounting
#1
My approach to the Accounting CLEP so far:

1) Worked through all of the Financial Accounting parts on IC.
2) Worked through the Financial Accounting section of 'Accounting Workbook for Dummies'
3) Using Navy Knowledge Online, I did the Fundamentals of Financial Accounting.
4) Been hitting the practice problems on principlesofaccounting.com

I took the Collegeboard Practice CLEP today for the upcoming Financial Accounting test being implemented June 30, 2006. I missed 19 out of 47 (61% correct).

I'm now moving on to the Managerial Accounting portion of the subject material and will start with the sections on IC, followed by finishing out the Managerial Accounting sections of my 'Accounting Workbook', and brushing up on principlesofaccounting.com.

Hopefully by Friday or Saturday I'll be able to start work on the Peterson's practice exams for the Principles of Accounting. Followed by my CLEP on Tuesday.

I have a few questions for those that have taken this exam:

1) While I understand that an exact percentage is almost impossible to equate to actual success on the exam, I was wondering if the curve on this one will help me, or hurt me.

2) Are the Peterson's practice exams a good indication for this one.

3) Based upon my above information would it be wise to push the exam back another week.

I only get one shot at this test and failure is not an option.

Thoughts anyone?

Morning,

I just took and passed my CLEP Principles of Accounting on Saturday. Needless to say I was extremely nervous. I practiced and studied using a calculator, as some have said you can use one, some have said you can't. I called my testing center prior and they said that the test has a built in calculator. WRONG!

Somehow I managed to pull off a 53, good enough for me, so I have to say that the curve did help me on this one. I did put a lot of time in studing for this, using IC, Principlesofaccounting.com and the Petersons practice exams.

If I recall, there was only about 20-25 managerial accounting questions and remember you can NOT use a calculator

Good luck

I'm currently studying for that test. I'm hitting around 63% on the peterson test. The managerial side is what I'm currently strengthening my skills in!

I've done 2 of the 3 Peterson's practice tests so far. I got a 53% on both of them. I'm going to study my weak areas (managerial accounting primarily), and take the 3rd test tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get higher on the third. Review a little more, then take my exam on Tuesday. I really, really hate this subject.

Good luck to you. I know how it is to be studying for a test in a subject that I really don't like, not easy. The only thing easy is finding excuses NOT to study that day! Big Grin Good Luck tomorrow, let us know how you do.

Congrats to you also! First time I ever did a standardized test that I would never have a second chance at! I'm glad it is over with.
