Hello you all again
getting this thread out from the grave. First of all, here are all the courses I have completed so far:
Sophia
Ancient Greek Philosophers 3
Art History II 3
Business Ethics 3
Business Law 3
Environmental Science 3
Financial Accounting 3
Human Biology + Lab 3+1
Introduction to Business 3
Introduction to Ethics 3
Introduction to Sociology 3
Macroeconomics 3
Microeconomics 3
US Government 3
US History II 3
Visual Communications 3
Workplace Communication 3
SDC
Business 303 - Management Information Systems 3
Business 309 - Digital Marketing & Advertising 3
Business 306 - Strategic Human Resources Management 3
Business 302 - Foundation of Leadership 3
Business 312 - Advances Operations Management 3
Business 307 - Leadership & Organizational Behavior 3
ACTFL - German
ONGOING
Business 304 - Leading Organizational Change (only proctored exam left)
Accounting 201 - Intermediate Financial Accounting I (only proctored exam left)
Accounting 302 - Advances Financial Accounting II (only proctored exam left)
Accounting 202 - Intermediate Accounting II (2 assignments + proctored exam left)
Accounting 301 - Applied Managerial Accounting
Business 110 - Business Math (Quizzes + proctored exam left)
I'm not sure if the 5 proctored exams for SDC are calculated each month or each pay period. If month I only have 1 exam left for November; if pay period I can take another 3 for $70/each, but that would still leave 3 more exams that I would like to transfer credits for and my new pay period for SCD starts 12/11 - 1
As of next steps - I filled out the application form on the UMPI website & I would need to send the transcripts in now.
What would the best way be for that?
Should I already send all completed ones over and send the other one later once I finished them? The next Application Deadline is 12/12/2023 (one 1 after my SCD reset) & the Document Deadline is 15/12/2023, but I don't think my SCD transcripts would get in fast enough for that, so I would def be missing 3 classes.
If I send the documents in by the Document Deadline - will I be able to start with the Spring 1 semester or are there cases where it takes longer and my start would be Spring 2?

Apply, send your courses through Credly, once you're done with the remaining classes to get up to 90+ credits evaluated, send them through Credly again. Basically, apply ASAP, re-send Credly transcripts, and verify everything is in order before the application deadline of 12/12/2023 just in case, this is because people have been dropped or fell through the cracks somewhere, don't wait until Jan to verify your transfer credits are done.

SDC exams are per pay period. If you have 3 exams left and you want to start at UMPI in January but you have more than 2 SDC classes you want to transfer to UMPI... I would do one now and then get ready to take the exams for the others as soon as your pay period starts again. That way they'll be graded and ready for transfer by the end of December.

Thanks! Just merged my accounts and sent everything over (22 courses / waiting on 2 final grades). Do you think I would be able to get those 3 other courses in as well, even if it might be after the deadline?

Seems like a workable option...

Yes, having 22 courses can be a good start. You can transfer more into the program before the actual start date of 1/16/2024, it's just that the processing would take a little longer to update. For the time being, you can follow the steps mentioned by Rachel83AZ...

Oh, I totally missed the reply from Rachel83AZ! Thank you!
I've got 6 courses left on SDC. I can take 3 more exams in this pay period and once I hit the new pay period (12/11) I can take the missing 3.
Because I saw something in another thread.
Will I be running into issues having the language requirement done with an ACTFL? My native language is German, so if there is any other test out there I could just do that as well to fulfill the requirement.

Your choices for languages boil down to:
- Any ACE-recommended ACTFL exam. For German, this can be any/all ACTFL exams. As long as you take the exam before December 31st, you're good. They should be renewed after that, but it can take a while to be reflected as such in the National Guide. Even if they're not renewed for some strange reason, they'll still be worth credit as long as the exam was taken before (as of today) December 31. UMPI is fine with the ACTFL exam. Plenty of students have transferred them in.
- Spanish or French at Sophia. If you know either language, you could speed through these relatively quickly.
- Spanish on Study.com
- CLEP exam (German, Spanish, or French available) - If you live near a testing center, this could be a good option. Other students have had issues with the online test option, so I wouldn't recommend that. If you speed through the German Language course on ModernStates, you could get a voucher to take this CLEP exam for free.

That's right, the ACTFL can be used to fill other elective credits if you score high... otherwise, if you know French or Spanish, you can always take the Sophia.org classes for those if you have an interest or knack for languages... Some people want to be polyglots and learn something different, if that's you, you can again take either French or Spanish to get the language requirement, then take the ACTFL to finish the remaining electives off. Depending on your budget, energy, time, do what you want, a mix or match of the options...

I've already done it and passed the ACTFL German exam. I just want to make sure I'm still good on that after reading this thread
But rachel83az answered it since she mentioned I'm good if it's taken before 12/31

Yeah, they got a "provisional renewal" that's good until December 31. They may get another, but hopefully they'll get a full renewal for the next time.
