PennState will likely cost quite a bit more, take significantly longer, and may not accept as much transfer credit.

Most important is probably your work history and GMAT score, do you have a profile they would be interested in? You could also do a masters degree from a more prestigious school before you apply to the MBA programs. UMPI will be way faster than any of these other degrees. Doubt they will accept sophia courses...

I am a little bit late to the party but I researched Penn State for my own purposes and found out they consider Study.com credits. They told me the last 36 credits have to be taken at Penn State though. What youll need to do to get the Study.com credits approved is to get the ACE transcript or so Ive been told. Ich wünsche dir noch viel Glück bei deinem Werdegang Jacky!

Unfortunately, "ACE transcripts" don't actually exist as such, anymore. Similar issues have arisen with other schools being behind the times and failing to accept Credly transcripts as legit ACE transcripts.

Hi,

It's a little bit since I last posted. I started working on some Sophia courses and just wanted to check-in with you guys if my plan makes sense.

Your Location: TX (but WA resident)

Your Age: 33
What kind of degree do you want?: Business
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits:

Those are the finished Courses:
  • Introduction to Business (sophia)
  • Introduction to Sociology (sophia)
  • Microeconomics (sophia)
  • Macroeconomics (sophia)
  • Financial Accounting (sophia)
  • Introduction to Ethics (sophia)
  • US History II (sophia)
  • Communication at Work (sophia)
  • Environmental Science (sophia)
  • Art History II (sophia)
  • Business Law (sophia)

  • German cert
In progress:
  • Bio Lab (sophia)
  • US Goverment (is there any alternative for that?) (study.com)
I've created this google doc - I've used the base from the 6-month BABA degree plan and filled out some electives (do they make sense). That plan also had US government via Instacert - is this still possible?

Thank you

Three things, 1) I've merged your new thread with the previous one you created.
2) InstantCert ACE courses are no longer available, skip them.
3) Follow post #4 and you'll see the links to the new degree plans for UMPI.
Note: I suggest you update your spreadsheet to reflect the recommended degree plan updates on the WIKI.

Sophia now has US Government, so no need for InstantCert (which no longer offers it anyway).

I don't know what "German cert" means.  Care to give more info?

Your Google doc requires permission to open it, so people can't help with that.

Thanks, I've updated the google sheet.

@dfrecore
I've updated the access for the google sheet and the link should now work (LINK)

German cert - My native language is German, so I just took the ACTFL for the language requirement.

In general, I'm unsure if I should do more courses at UMPI or study.com.

Max out the Sophia.org for lower level, then work on Study.com for classes not available at Sophia.org or for upper level, finish at UMPI the final 30 credits.

Yes, do everything you can through Sophia, since it's cheaper (GEC & Free Electives)  Then, you weight the difference between the Study.com UL courses you can bring in for the Business Core and Minor/concentration - figure out how many courses you can finish in 2 terms, and do the remaining courses through SDC.

Just as a for-instance, the BABA Management has 12 courses in the major, and 8 in the concentration:

Major - 4 can be done via Sophia (although you'll take 5 courses, since you have to take both Macro and Micro econ)
Concentration - none can be done through Sophia
This would leave 16 courses to complete.  That would probably take 3 terms (I think most people here are doing approx 10 courses in 2 terms).

If you want to do 2 terms easily, then you need to take some of the remaining courses through SDC.  There are
Major - 2 can be done via SDC
Concentration - 6 can be done through SDC
This would leave 8 courses to complete. You need to take at least 10 at UMPI.

Obviously you don't want to do ALL of these if you already have the entire GEC done.  BUT, if you haven't taken the hands-on art requirement (2D) or English Comp 1 or 2, and those will put you at 10 courses to complete, then you might want to do the business courses through SDC.  Totally up to you to weigh the cost of extra courses at SDC vs. an extra term at UMPI (at some point it's not worth it).
