I was curious if someone has tried Brightspace, which system is "easier" to navigate. I guess it's similar to comparing Saylor.org and Sophia.org - different systems but the dashboard and features are clearly "better/nicer" on one platform than the other... I'll really be interesting for those who transition from one to the other in Dec/Jan.
There are a few other CBE programs who use Strut. They're very small programs with 1 degree and that's it. Brightspace is like Canvas on steroids. There will be a transition no matter when it starts because people don't just attend 1 session. Most attend on here attend 2-3 and the reality of it is that the majority of YourPace students take far longer.
So true on mentioning that most take a lot longer. When my father told the student counselor was aiming to finish in one term at WGU, he shared she was very supportive. However, when he finished in one term and followed back, she mentioned that most claim they will finish in one or two, and most take several terms. I am sure it can overwhelm students who have not established an online learning groove before starting at a university.

Most of my friend's brightspace classes are nowhere near ready. Do you all think Strut use will get continued on into the fall?

Looks like it's delayed again:
Quote:Dear YourPace Students,
You are receiving this email because you were enrolled as a YourPace at University of Maine at Presque Isle student during the Fall 2 2022 session. You may have heard that we were planning on moving from Strut, the current platform, to Brightspace, a learning management system supported by the University of Maine System for the Spring 1 2023 session.
I am writing to let you know that as a result of unanticipated circumstances that very recently surfaced, we will remain in Strut at the start of the Spring 1 2023 session until further notice.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to improve your academic experience.
Sincerely,
-Susan

Ironic. with the change coming i took the week of thanksgiving off from work to help power through more courses before the change. was good motivation, since now I can wrap up the degree in spring 1 and start the MAOL spring 2. also glad the current platform is remaining in place as there's some course info there I haven't saved yet that I'd like to use in the future......if it was a textbook course i'd just have the textbook.....

Well that's unfortunate. South College which has a CBE DBA began their program on Strut and is moving to Canvas. Interesting that 2 schools are leaving Strut. I wonder what's happening behind the scenes.
