Brandman University leaves Chapman University system and becomes UMass Global
#1
Hello friends,

I got this email from Brandman University:

Quote:Dear O****,

Thank you for your continued interest in Brandman University’s programs. As you continue towards achieving your educational goals, we would like to share the good news with you! In the Fall of 2020, Brandman University began to enter a strategic partnership with the University of Massachusetts.

What does that mean? Once the Department of Education approves the change, which we expect in the first half of 2021, we will no longer be part of the Chapman University system. Brandman University will change our name to UMass Global and become a private nonprofit affiliate of the University of Massachusetts

The new affiliation will allow Brandman to expand nationally and provide its high-quality education to more working adults than ever before. We are very excited about the ability to do this and hope you will be, too.

What does this mean for you? The proposed relationship with UMass would not change the fundamental Brandman experience that students currently enjoy. As UMass Global, the university would continue to be the same institution that students know and love. UMass Global would retain Brandman's standing as a private nonprofit, independently accredited institution headquartered in Irvine, California. Brandman’s existing leadership, faculty, coaches, and advisors would stay in place. And our campuses, offices, on-base sites, and relationships with community colleges, school districts, nonprofits, and U.S. businesses would remain intact. Brandman, under its new name UMass Global, would also continue to offer the same online, blended and self-paced programs.

We understand you might have some questions. Please see our UMass Global FAQ for more information. Thank you for considering Brandman University. It’s a really exciting time to continue your education!

UMass Global sounds a lot better than Brandman University.
At least people know about 'UMass' ... most of people haven't heard about Brandman University.
But Brandman University is in California. Not sure how they'll count as University of Massachusetts system.

So it will be similar to how Kaplan was absorbed by Purdue to create Purdue Global. What were the Kaplan offices in Florida still exist and are still utilized by Purdue Global. Much of the faculty transitioned as well, but over time Purdue plans to have more of their professors take over classes and rework some of the classes to align more with Purdue classes.

An interesting way to get an online school. It's already set up. Has degrees. Courses. Faculty. Administration. I believe we'll see more of this type of situation happening over the next few years. It was already happening a bit, but with online and remote learning now the thing everyone is stuck doing in many areas, online college degrees no long have that bad rap which was never deserved.

To be honest, it is a smart move and good decision for both parties.

It will be interesting to see if UMass keeps the competency based programs or expands them.

Hopefully with this partnership, I am hoping they are not change their pricing strategy for the MyPath competency based degree programs, and also expand their offerings further. They currently have 1 associates, 1 masters, and a small number or handful of bachelors.

I have not heard about this transition before, but today I read about it from several sources at once. For example, here on the forum, and I also read on Eduzaurus when I studied the education system. I want to say that our educational system is not so simple. Especially when it comes to higher education. Tell me, how many of you really wanted to get a PhD? And how many of you have come in handy for this degree. because I do not know many such stories, it is often not interesting to even write this paper, but it is written only because it is so necessary in the labor market. What can you say about this?

Just curious, where are you from and why are you studying the educational system? I'm not sure I catch what you mean by this. Anyways, I usually don't recommend using sites such as Eduzaurus, as most of these types of sites are asking members if they want to purchase written work (that so much sounds like you know what, plagiarism). I highly doubt you're using it for plagiarism, some people use sites like those to see the sample work others have put in and use it as a starting point for writing their own work...
