Bobsleigh - Degree Planning Advice - Help Please

just about any Bachelor degree , online most likable

WV has 7 colleges with BOG AAS and nowhere is it free anymore for out of state students unless you count using a Pell grant as free since there is a 3 to 12 class residency requirement in each college

if looking at my credits from Itawamba transcripts, shows 98 semester credits without any 300 level classes unless some transfer at the 300 level somewhere else

plus RQ295 online introductory and computer literacy type course from APUS/AMU that Itawamba didn't accept was 3 credits

I had enough Child Development and Early Education credits plus the other lower level credits to maybe spam the lower level classes of 2 degrees

UMPI requires 30 credits in class residency online or in person

so I reckon I might have 5th year FAFSA aid or Graduate level aid left but otherwise am down to the Pell grant or other type aid

I'm open to suggestions, I think I did see Child Development or Early Education at TESC and COSC but Excelsior also has a 30 credit class residency

I had a year at Taft Law School but withdrew after Final Exams instead of taking final exams so they just give grades if finishing the year so that counted against my lifetime total of financial aid

I know theres other colleges that I could get a duo Bachelor-Master program but TESC or COSC sounds okay too if there's enough FinAid

or if I could get into accredited California law school online like National U then that would work toward a Athabasca 3 yr Bachelor degree

I have a reverse transfer Associates about bagged up if going into classes and having a new class transcript or grades they can evaluate

so something cheap, preferably competency based, using what I have already, is ideal

<big sigh> It's going around in circles and information is incorrect in each of your sentences, almost literally each sentence has incorrect details in regards to institutions and their requirements... you're really dotting your i's and crossing your t's incorrect on this one, you're really all over the place.

Please review what was mentioned as advice and if you need specific answers, list your questions... I'll go through the entire thread and make a recap like I usually do to clear out all the misconceptions and mistakes I see, this really needs to be cleaned up so you and others don't get confused.

Pierpont is free if they are your first Associate. They DO NOT HAVE A RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT. I don't know where you got that idea.

If all of your current credits are LL, you must ignore them and be willing to lose most of them. They are going to be utterly useless except as electives or gen eds.

This depends on the school. I am not going to look again, but I think no. You have taken a lot of classes that are going to be useless everywhere.

Technically true. But YourPace is ONLY online. Most students are able to finish in 2 or 3 sessions for a total of $3000 or $4500.

What? This makes no sense.

Your Child Development/Early Education classes are USESLESS at this point. Stop clinging to them.

You cannot get a COSC degree if you have NO upper level credit.

None of these schools have a 30 credit residency requirement. Especially not Excelsior.

No.

This is expensive! It uses up more of your budget if you have to take more classes. WHY? DO NOT DO THIS!!!!

Pierpont BOG AAS.

UMPI Something; maybe BLS Educational Studies if you really want.

Those are your best choices. But you have to forget about the ECE classes you already took. Pretend they do not exist.

Almost everyone has completed at least one class that wound up not fitting their final degree plan.

Move forward.

Stop looking backward.

You cannot undo taking those classes.

But you can chart a new and better path to a degree.

As Rachel83AZ said, you have to look forward rather than backwards. Looking backward is saying "I took all of these credits and I want to fit them into a degree, no matter what." Looking forward is saying "What will it cost in time and money to complete XYZ degree?" You may be able to use some of your previous credits, and it's of course smart to use as many credits as you can. But, if it means that you pay more and take longer to get a degree that will use your previous credits, then it's not the best path forward.

Looking at your classes, you have TONS of GE stuff, I would say that you have almost everything you need to get a BALS at TESU, a BLS at EU, or the BLS at UMPI quickly and easily.

For TESU, you need:
Ethics (Sophia)
12cr of LL AoS courses (Sophia - so Visual Comm, Business Comm, A&P, Conflict Resolution, EnvironSci, Intro to Stats, Python Programming, Microbiology - all come into the AoS as 200-level which you need)
15cr of UL AoS courses - can be done via Study.com or Coopersmith, you'll need to make sure you take UL courses that count in the AoS though
Cornerstone & Capstone at TESU

For EU, you need:
Ethics (Sophia)
18cr of UL AoS courses - can be done via Study.com or Coopersmith, you'll need to make sure you take UL courses that count in the AoS though
9cr of UL Free Electives - SDC, Coopersmith (and Prin of Mgmt at Sophia)
Cornerstone, InfoLit & Capstone at EU

For UMPI, you need:
Hands-on art (take at UMPI)
Spanish (Sophia)
Ethics (Sophia)
6-7 courses in the major (take at UMPI)
2-3 courses of your choice (take at UMPI to total 30cr)

It just depends on which way you want to go - TESU/EU is best for non-Competency-based, while UMPI will be your best bet for Competency-based. All are perfectly good options.

@Bobsleigh - Here's a quick RECAP of what you're looking at and how I would slice things. You have not completed the template or addendum (even being asked twice or more now). I've updated that particular thread so prospective students can provide more details that will help senior members assist them further.

Basically, I understand you're trying to get multiple Associates on route to the Bachelors and your ultimate goal is a Law degree from any of the California Law Schools that can be done online. I also see you're trying to 'salvage' older credits and bringing them into the Associates/Bachelors. I would tread with caution...

WV has 9 colleges that provide the BOG AAS, they range from 0 residency credits at Pierpont, some require 3 credits with a waiver, and others require 12 credits for that residency requirement. I would skip any of them except for Pierpont or WVNCC if you get the waiver. You can try salvaging your Child Development/Early Education credits with an emphasis at Pierpont.

COSC, Excelsior, TESU allow you to transfer in 113/114 credits, there are no residency requirements over 6/7 credits. UMPI requires 30 residency credits, none of these have a dual bachelors/masters option you're referring to, it's more of a ladder and will be too expensive for them. I would recommend UMPI BLS Education & Management Minor, you can ladder to UMPI MAOL with 3 lesser courses.

As someone who tries to get extra ROI/Value, I know where you're going with this, you need to make sure the requirements for entry for say Northwestern California University School of Law (a few members are going to this school, Federicojavier, GoodYellowDogs, JSD), or a competing law school. Majority of these require an AA/AS and the AAS doesn't hit the requirement.

You're trying to reverse transfer from an expensive law school such as National U and trying to transfer that into Athabasca U, that's an expensive and not worth it. Even though you can get the 30 UL requirements for Athabasca U, it wouldn't be feaseable going to National U just to get RA/graded credits. I would do things differently and in orderly fashion...

Pierpont BOG AAS, complete this degree first. Ladder into the UMPI BAS/BLS with a minor or two, make sure to have at least 30 UL credits completed at UMPI (add the AALS freebie to your program list and forget it). In the odd chance you really want the cheap Athabasca BGS to complement your cheap Pierpont BOG AAS, do that last. Apply to NWCU SOL or a similar law institution.

Note: Pierpont is free, you just pay for transcripts. UMPI AALS is free, you don't do anything but add the program, the courses required are all done with your UMPI BAS/BLS. Athabasca BGS requires 30 UL credits, your 30 credits from UMPI should hit the mark, there are some caveats, you need specific RA credits at the lower level such as 6 science, etc. Costs are just a couple hundred for application and evaluation fee!

Not A.L.A. but A.L.S.

Sorry , I guess it was about a A.A.  or A.S. since they show those two, when reviewing their list.

I am now in 3 credits for Fall at New River CC Tech of WV as they had lowest tuition and academic residency. I read that some of the colleges will waive academic residency. They are not wanting to find me an area of emphasis as described for BOG AAS whereas I had 37 educational credits already which does not seem to count for 15 credits of an area of emphasis. I wish I had I inquired about waving academic residency elsewhere because I could have taken the APUS course and did it better I think .

I also should get a reverse transfer Associate degree from Itawamba CC which will probably be another general AAS or AS due to having no foreign language or fine arts/humanities of note.

I am a bit confused: You're going for the New River CC BOG AAS? How many residency credits are you going to take with them, 3 or 15?

I have to read all the post again and advice as I didn't get it in the email notification. I will see if Pierpoint and WVNCC waived residency and fees.

Pierpont has ZERO residency requirements for their BOG AAS. That's why they're so popular here.
