UMPI does not offer an associate degree in YourPace. It doesn't take much longer to complete a bachelor's degree. You have college credit already. Have you shared what credits you have and from where? We can help you with a degree plan for a bachelor's from UMPI or elsewhere.

Somebody said they got a Pierpoint A.A.S. and later  a UMBI  A.L.S. along with the UMBI BLS but switched, I think, to the UMBI B.A.S. too. I was inquiring of how to do this and if it was online which I think it wasn't but did they grant  the A.L.S  too or what is the caveats of the process? I am using a small cell phone so it's tough to go back and read and see all here.

I meant they switched from the BLS to BAS but also has the UMPI ALS, all after the Pierpoint AAS which I would like to do something similar Thank you

@Bobsleigh, Are you in MA, ME, or another state? You're looking for an Associates at UMPI, skip it (technically, you just add it and forget it). Just go directly from Pierpont BOG AAS to UMPI BAS (if you have enough technical credits) or most likely the BLS and call it a day, you don't do anything to get the AALS, you can tell them to add that to your program list and that's all they do. Keep it simple!

When you're done with the UMPI Bachelors degree, all the requirements for the AALS would have been completed as a general arts/science or whatever minor I mentioned above in post #32. It's easy and relatively straight forward, the info/reply from advising or whoever you were corresponding to was incorrect, I guess it may have been an enrollment counselor (their off-site sales team).

thank you very much. I'm not in Maine so it could be a moot point anyway. But thank you, the colleges can be misleading in different ways which is why outside I fo is really appreciated.

Again, UMPI does NOT offer an associate degree in YourPace. You would have to attend in person on campus to complete an associate from UMPI. If you complete an associate degree from Pierpont, then you want to get a bachelor's degree. It's pointless to get a second associate degree. It's rare for anyone to be accepted into the BAS. There have been several of us who met the requirements, but were still denied. The BAS isn't a degree available in YourPace. Look on the YourPace website. Those are the only degrees available. Plan for the BLS or BABA.

I meant that in my case the A.A.S. was better than nothing for circumstances but it is a terminal degree only good to go to a B.A.S. program in most cases or unique programs like UMPI B.L.A. program or the BABA or the B.A.S. so if anyone knows where else a A.A.S. is good for any other programs except B.A.S.?

So in my case the A.A.S. is okay in a way but otherwise an A.A. or A.S or A.L.A. would be great in case I later went on for a B.A.S. or B.A. or B.S. so that really a A.A.S. can block someone in some ways in having it from anything but a B.A.S. ; for instance no known law school accepts a A.A.S. such as Taft which accepts A.A. and probably not a B.A.S. nor any ABA accredited law schools. as they are trade skill degrees. Does any M.A. or M.S. accept the B.A.S., probably very few. Do you see why just a A.A.S. is not always enough and another Associates degree is needed?

Of course there are the Master of Science programs but I meant working up from the lower levels that it would be great to add different types of Associate's if not having a Bachelor's. I have low financial assistance and will need soon to utilize credits as well as possible. I can post my classes and see where it would work and how at any level of degree. Anyone know of a Masters program without undergraduates for non-tech non-business non-healthcare applicants? That's why people need these helpful forums

@Bobsleigh, Just because several institutions mention that the AAS and BAS are terminal degrees doesn't mean most or all of them are. There are many institutions that allow the terminal AAS into a Bachelors, be it the BAS or anything else. What people don't understand is that, it's the courses that you take make it transferable OR if the institution has an agreement for block transfer. All the courses we recommend here will ladder from Pierpont BOG AAS to UMPI BLS, Excelsior, TESU, SNHU, etc, at least 90 credits or more will transfer, just make sure to hit all the requirements on route to ladder upwards.

And if you're looking to continue onto a Masters, these Bachelors degrees are just like any other Regionally Accredited Public or State university, it will get you into semi-competitive to non-competitive Masters. If you need to get into a specific more competitive Masters, just make sure you 'hit' all their requirements, and that is basically all there is to it! So don't fret over if an AA/AAS/AS will go to a Bachelors and if it will allow entry into a Masters, so on and so on... It will get you through the door as a check the box degree as long as other requirements are met.

@Bobsleigh - You really should complete details from posts 2 & 4 from the Degree Planning Advice forum area so we can help you (see this: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Forum-D...ing-Advice).   Your recent post (here) is talking about extreme outlier situations (Law School concerns with just an associates degree?), concerns about 'terminal degree' limitations (MBAs are considered terminal degrees, no one is running from those). The Pierpont BOG AAS is defintely not anything that defines what you can or cannot do next - it is merely a step towards your goal.  However you haven't told us anything about what those goal(s) you have are.

Thanks for clearing it up.  Do you any of  think the  "Big 3" would max out the Early Education credits in any degree program they have? I mean, I don't like needing to ask, but they want say anything unless sending them about $40 of official transcripts for each university. But on the bright side, other readers besides me will learn from writers here.

What do you mean by 'Early Education' credits? Old? What degree program, what school, it matters (some schools offer AOS like CS that won't take old credits, but then others will).  I will say generally Gen Eds never get too old. I commented under the thread you set up for assistance (link - https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid396243). You really have not given enough basic information on what you have and where you want to go, so your questions end up reading very vague (and basic is all that the Degree Planning Advice format asks for - basic...but clear information)
