Yes!!!
My local cc went from $82/credit to $95/credit to $105.50/credit and say they will go up again in the Fall.
Also, they don't participate in any federal student loans, though there is talk of this changing. Only Pell and whatever scholarships you can get.

I wanted to take three courses each with three credit hours at
UTEP in El Paso. The three courses were for a certificate in
Border Studies. I'm interested in the topic. The price $5000
for an online program for out of state!

Wow you guys are getting ripped off. Only 15 CLEP credits can transfer in? Yikes.
That's benefit of being military and going to a SOC school (Servicemembers' Opportunity College)... where CLEPs are taken, 75% of you credits can be transfer credits, etc etc.
If everything goes according to plan I should have my associates in 1 semester at my junior college when I get out of the Navy. My military credits and CLEPs should mean the only classes I have to take are the 5 classes for the residency requirement. I just match up those classes to be the easy ones to raise my GPA and CLEP out of the boring stuff and I'm halfway done... in one short summer semester.

This is why Instant Cert and the Big 3 are so popular, once someone finds out about it!
Now to get the word out that there are other options!

I knew California CC rates were very low--but I guess I didn't realize how low they really were. My local CC is at $26 per credit hour for CA residents--although it's not likely to stay there since the state is broke. However, even if it doubles--it'll still be a pretty good deal comparatively.
