The university I am attending will not accept Aleks coursework as college credit but it will accept a good score of 50 or above on the College Algebra CLEP. I really enjoy the Aleks way of reviewing math so I'm hoping this a good path.
Has anyone else tried using Aleks to study for the College Algebra CLEP?
Thanks!

Almost... I used ALEKS college algebra plus IC to study for the College math. Yes, it works. You use ALEKS to learn or brush up on important concepts. In my case, since the college math CLEP is a little different than College Algebra ALEKS, I had to include IC to cover some stuff not in ALEKS.
I only scored a 53, but I was just trying to get my math requirement out of the way and could have done better if I had been willing to put in a little more time.
I think it's a great idea.

Thanks! I'll have to check and see if the university would accept both College Algebra AND College Math . . . it would be more credits and there's probably enough overlap in studying where it would be worth the effort.

Many do. If you take a quick glance through IC, you'll see that College Math has quite a few non-algebra topics. I've heard it said that if you got through 10th grade math, you should pass College Math. Lol... not sure how true that is, but it's very doable and if you could pass both math & algebra, that's 9 credits!

Hmmm, this university only allows 4 credits for each. And yes, still worth it! We'll see. If I pass College Algebra with a good score, I'm going to be, hands down, the happiest person in the testing area!!

Don't underestimate math. I always am shocked when I forget how to factor a trinomial or how to apply newtons method of approximating roots or what a natural log is and how to factor logarithms. It's all doable but you certainly need to brush up. When we were in school it was a constant progression from math to higher level math so algebra was always there.
Aleks will be a good way to learn.

I took Aleks Intermediate Algebra and it was enough to help me pass the College Algebra CLEP exam.

Thanks foe confirming what level of Aleks you used. I wasn't sure whether the Intermediate level would suffice. This is good news.
