Best Online College Algebra class?

Meaning, I earned 3 SH by completing PreCalculus on ALEKS. It is on my transcript from ACE and Excelsior will award me the actual credit...if you want to be technical. I suppose I should word that better somehow. Sorry.

It is. And it's all paper/pen, and you have to show ALL your work.

BTW, even though I did the class in 2 days I wouldn't recommend that unless you are already pretty strong in Algebra or have already been studying Algebra for the CLEP. The exams were only 20 questions but I would not categorize this as "easy." In fact having taken the Peterson's practice exams and having taken this course, I would say the Straighterline course exams are harder than the practice CLEPs I did.

If you could finish Straighterline in two days, why not just knock out the College Algebra CLEP?

I considered doing the CLEP but I'm in Iraq and it's a little more complicated here to schedule one. Doing Straighterline was a no-brainer. No time constraints, no paper and pencil exam, no waiting 6 weeks here for a result. There are many more downsides to exams in Iraq than in the U.S. That's why. You don't get instant results, you don't take the CLEPs/DSSTSs on computer, you don't take the exam when you want to (it's once a month here).

Is there a place to buy a college alegra book on straighterline or do you buy it somewhere else?

Is there a place on the website to apply to Fort Hays Univ or is that done separately by going to their website? I see the college links but I didn't really see an explanation. (ah i see now on the fort hays website that if you're non-degree seeking thru their school you don't have to submit transcripts so I answered my own question on this one )

Does the straighterline course show you how to do the algebra problems for which you'll be tested later? it's been so long since i've had algebra

Has anyone tried the free course option at straighterline to see what they offer or if it's legitimate?

oh and hunger4god, you said you got a b in college algebra but am i understanding correctly that you said that it only shows pass online on your transcript even tho you got a b? if so, i'm not liking that as much i don't think :eek:

Well, that's my fault you're confused. Originally I thought it was a pass but later once it was on my transcript it came through as a "B." I pointed this out in a later post but maybe you didn't see it. Excelsior also later accepted it for credit.
