In reference to Straighterline's College Algebra course: There are five exams total. Each one is 20 questions, with four, multiple-choice answers. The tests are untimed, BUT you cannot go back to previous questions and you have to complete the exam in one sitting once it's been opened. The first four exams cover all of the content of the course. The fifth exam is like a final -- but with the same format. I used my own college algebra textbook. I didn't buy the one they recommended.
I breezed through all five exams in just shy of 3 days with a 'B.' I would not say it was easy though. You do need to know your algebra and it's not just the basic stuff either.
Hope that helps.
Just a clarification, once in an exam you can go back to questions. You can bounce around the questions all you want to (5-4, 4-5). Otherwise, I totally agree.

This is the one I have ordered from amazon
Amazon.com: College Algebra With Trigonometry (Barnett & Ziegler's College Algebra/Precalculus Series): Raymond A. Barnett, Michael R. Ziegler: Books
This is the book/ author recommende by straighterline in their course description. Used it is around $4-5 . Pretty good for me.

candothis,
Thank you for the tip. I just ordered it also for my children. Did you take the straighterline course as well? How was it? I am debating for them.

Originally, I thought FHSU just gave me a 'P' for College Algebra but now my "unofficial transcript" is showing online and they indeed have me with a letter grade 'B'. So that's good for all who were wondering.

I checked mine today and I too was given a "B." I sent in the request for transcript to be sent to TESC, I will see how long that takes.

great news on the B at Fort Hays. It cost $30 to enroll there? Could you wait to enroll until after you knew that you passed straightline.com

Glad if I could be of help. I amwaiting for both my math and accounting book to arrive before i enroll in the courses. I am going to TRY to take out algebra and ACC 1 for the $99 option. I have already talked to Jennifer (I agree that she is the greatest thing going onfor straighterline- very polite and helpful)
She says that you can cancel your membership a week before the month is up.You will not be charged another month. This way you can see how much you are getting done ( if you are planning to take more than one course)
I am planning on Algebra, Acc1 and Acc 2.
I will keep you guys posted
